This was among the worst hotel stays I've ever experienced. To be clear, this is a very beautiful old building and it's been furnished nicely, which you can see in the photos. That makes it extra sad that it's fallen into the hands of the person managing it.
Here are a few complaints from a much longer list:
-Check-in took forever. And after a long voyage, all we wanted to do was check into our room, We were cryptically told we couldn't do that until we went to the rooftop to discuss something with manager. It turned out she just wanted to greet us up there. This was well-intentioned, maybe, but the last thing we wanted to do after a long voyage with a visibly cranky toddler was be marched up four flights of stairs.
-The manager told us that we would have access to a kitchen and refrigerator for our baby's food. The kitchen staff did not allow us to do so.The barely cool fridge in the room turned off when we removed our key from the slot and was not an option.
-Upon entering the room, we found litter and muddy stains on the floor and half empty shampoo bottles in the bathroom. When we expressed that this was unacceptable, the manager told me I was just too tired and needed to "relax."
-No one who works at the hotel other than the manger speaks either English or Hindi, making it very difficult to communicate.
-The wiring was crazy: there were >30 switches in our room yet the same switch controlled the fan and the light so you couldn't do just one.
-Our room had mice!
