The location was a definite plus and it’s nearness to city outlets was great but the furnishing was too sparse. One TV set in a 2 bedroom apartment was a dampener. Having the plumbing pipes right overhead wasn’t also good for the mind. Other than that, everything else was fine. Even though there was very little briefing from the contact guy
The check in process was a bit overwhelming. I was in contact with multiple cs people and the info they required was different. At first i was all set with my payment then i received an email that they do not have payment. If you are late checking in (9pm) you are charged a late fee regardless of plane delays.
My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Cast Iron Crofts in Jersey City, NJ. The place is within a walking distance to Hoboken Train Station, which is the same place where we got on PATH Subway to either World Trade Center or 33rd Street in Manhattan. This place is safe enough for my family and very comfortable, too. I would recommend this to anyone of four to six people, who is on a budget with high value staying.
The mangement asked to send by email a photo of my credit card and my ID card.
We received an unfrendly email with the demand to tell them the exact check in time in order to meet in the buildingthe menagement company representative, but at the agreed time there was no representative to give us the key, the internet code and to advise us how to use the 4 remote controls of the TV. We received the keys and returned them to to the building desk, not to the renting company,
The apt. was not clean, not enough lights, the coffe maker was with old coffe.
There is no parking, but a public one very expensive, payed per hour for every entry.
All the comunication with the company staff was by email or by phone.
Very difficult to deal with pelican stay staff, communicated by over ten mails, asked them to call me to clarify the credit card info, never got a call back. Gave me the wrong address in check-in confirmation email.
When check-in, they requested me to provide the copy of my ID and credit card. I did not feel safe to do so, however, I had no choice.
Did not provide me the Wi-Fi info when check-in, I have to find out the password at the back of modem by myself, wasted me lots of time.
The sofa bed is really terrible, it is a garbage at all.
The Great : Building facilities were great, the room was very spacious and felt like home. Very clean and our kids had a great time in the apartment. We were also minutes away from time square using local bus transit. Building/Hotel is also very closely located to nearby supermarket, Target, gas station, Carlo's bakery and other great locations.
The not so good : We traveled for about 9 hours from Canada and met with the Concierge of the building. This is a residential complex and Pelican Residences rents out several rooms in the building. The concierge didn't know we were coming and did not have the key for our place nor did he have our WiFi Password. These were all specifically mentioned in the welcome email as "taken care of items". Fortunately for us the concierge was great and made some phone calls and was put on hold several times before being told to expect a call back. He did not get a call back but about 30 minutes later someone from the building walked over to him with our keys. We also had an issue with a leaking toilet and could not get a hold of the staff at Pelican. I tried calling them and emailing them but did not hear until about 12 hours later. The concierge once again was very supportive in sending their maintenance crews to fix the problem.
This apartment was beautiful. Comfortably fit my family of 6. Great view but not of the statue of liberty. Free shuttle to the Hoboken station or the restaurants of Hoboken. Parking is $25/day on site. The apartment staff at cast iron lofts was very nice. The customer service through Pelican was awful. It was a wild goose chase just to get someone on the phone. I tried to contact my "personal" rep and the number, one of 3 numbers, given to me was a rep in Miami. Needless to say contact was never made. After all is said and done, I would stay here again, and just pray I would not need to contact Pelican. And bring your own toilet paper, they won't give you more.
The two nights were the worst 16 months of my life
Almost totally negative. I was told the building went up rather fast. Construction really shabby - rebar sticking out of the ceiling concrete. The floor tilts terribly. One has the sensation that the building is leaning. Was this place built by a mob owned company? It wouldn't begin to pass code in Germany - maybe Bangladesh... I think hotels.com should rid itself of this property. On your site you show a price slashed out, then the special offer price. I booked it for the special offer price only to have my card charged double of the higher slashed out price. When I called the people at Pellican, I was told that I should have read the fine print. I was also told that they didn't have any control over the dubious business practices of Hotels.com. To add insult to injury, the large bed was a mattress on the floor!
Try to get up from that when you're over 70. Also no Wifi. Total lack of communication between building staff and pelican as the building manager got into a dispute with Pelican rep on the phone whom I had called - rather embarrassing. Certainly not professional.
Check-in process was difficult. The apartment staff knows very little about the rental process with Pelican. There were no keys for me upon check-in, and then upon finding them (left in the room), I was without a key fob. They told me it would be 1-2 days until they could get me another one, and 3 days later I got one (the afternoon before I was checking out).
The iron was broken in my room, and multiple lights were out. The hangers had seen better days.
You are very aware that you are not staying in a hotel, because there is zero hospitality and you kind of feel stranded.
But for the price and location, you get what you paid for.

Cast Iron Lofts Jersey City, NJ
Overall this property was fine and met our needs. The price was reasonable and the location was OK. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We had two issues with the property. The specifics on the property clearly stated that free WiFi would be available. We were unable to access the WiFi. We asked twice about it at the front desk and they said that a tech would address the issue and leave us detailed instructions on how to access the WiFi. This never happened. When I travel I still work, not having access to WiFi made this difficult. The second issue was that the window treatments in the bedroom consisted of shear curtains that did not completely cover the windows. This does not provide much privacy and in the early AM the sun streams through the shears making sleeping in next to impossible. There were no window drapes on the living room windows at all.
