"I traveled with my family to the Cumaceba lodge. We stayed for three nights and four days. We had an amazing Amazon experience! Our guide Dixon was fabulous! He made our stay even better by his experience and knowledge of the area, animals, and flora.
The 2 to 3 excursions per day kept us busy and always wanting to find more wonders of the rainforest.
I would truly recommend this lodge if you are wanting a hands-on experience of the Amazon."

"Lacking basic necessities. Electricity limited to 4 hours a day. After 10PM the whole lodge goes pitch black in the middle of the jungle. No furniture in your room except for a bed with no cushioning and rough bedsheets. No hot water. Not even soap or a small mirror in bathroom. Rough unfinished wood on walls. Transport to lodge is done in boats in terrible dirty unsafe boats with no adequate life vests. Two hours on the river to get there. Water getting inside boat and driver scooping it out by...

"A perfect, rustic base for exploring the amazing Amazonian jungle. We had an incredibly knowledgeable guide, and the food was very good, too. Just don't expect anything more than camping-like conditions, with spartan rooms, mosquito netting and limited electricity."

"I stayed at El Cauchero for two nights before heading into the jungle for a retreat. There are no English speakers on the staff, but I found them to be helpful and we were able to communicate effectively with Google translate. The room was clean, everything worked as it should. A couple of things to keep in mind depending on your physical abilities, there are no elevators and you may have to go up several flights of stairs, so be prepared. This is not a five-star hotel, and while everything was orderly, it is right at the riverfront and there are lots of bugs and it is somewhat loud because of its location. All that said, I would stay there again if I return to Iquitos. It’s directly across from the boat museum and within walking distance to many restaurants and the Plaza de Armas."
"Unbelievable. I REALLY was not expecting any of what I received. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a very nice, helpful receptionist, Flo. She quickly worked to get me to my room, which was more of an apartment than a room. When we walked in and I saw a sitting room with TV and then a kitchen, I assumed this was a shared area for multiple units. Then Flo said "no, this is all for you." She showed me to the separate bedroom which was nice and spacious with a large, clean bed and clean towels on top of it. I had a nice little private balcony and then a nice bathroom with a big surprise: Instant-On hot water, and I mean INSTANT. The bedroom had its own wall AC unit which was awesome because it was hot and muggy. The sitting room, too, had its own separate wall AC unit. As we walked back to the front door, I asked Flo if there was a way I could purchase bottled water somewhere and she proceeds to open the fridge which had water with and without gas as well as different sodas and beers. The place was perfect, very well-stocked, nice and clean, and incredibly well-priced all things considered. I told everyone on my trip as they selected the Doubletree and paid quadruple what I paid and simply because their past Iquitos experiences landed them in places that were more Hostel than Hotel. I cannot recommend this place enough."
"Ample kitchen with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, utensils etc. Very close to good grocery stores like La cadena (my new favorite) and Los Portales. Free drinking water near the front desk for your water bottles."
"Great little sanctuary within the city. The property is large with surrounding walls so it is quiet apart from birds and nature sounds despite being in the city. The room was so cute and ac worked very well. No hot water but you definitely don't need it in Iquitos. The breakfast was very good and served to your door - bread with jam, eggs, plantains, fresh juice, and coffee."
"So it’s not right next to central Iquitos, but that doesn’t matter. Central is a quick moto taxi ride for very cheap, or a 15-20 minute walk. What matters to me is how nice this place was. Iquitos is a rowdy town. It’s lively with a lot of hustle and bustle. This property is not: it is serene. I loved it so much, I ended up staying an extra night. It’s calm, relaxing, and downright beautiful. Right when you walk in, you are met with a beautiful courtyard that centers a gorgeous pool. There’s a small bar and restaurant, excursion services, and a 24 hour service concierge. My bed was comfy and the hotel is quiet and filled with beautiful flowers and trees and plants (yes inside the hotel). Will stay again 100%. Ps. The staff were all incredible. Such cool people!"
