Igualada is a charming town near Barcelona, which is part of the pilgrimage route to Montserrat, as well as a centre of the textile industry.

Your holiday in Igualada will bring you to a stop on the pilgrimage to Montserrat monastery – the Basilica of Santa Maria, a beautiful example of the Catalan Renaissance style of the 17th century. Inside you’ll see a beautiful Baroque altarpiece and a remarkable organ, which is the star of the International Organ Festival of Igualada.

You can also visit the L’Asil del Sant Crist, a stunning religious sanctuary of impressive size in a unique architectural style. It was designed by architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, one of Antonio Gaudí’s disciples, and was finished in 1941. This spectacular site comprises a church (the most Gaudí-esque part), a small cloister and a belfry.

If you want to explore the industrial past of this small city located in the province of Barcelona, you can’t do much better than the “Viatge per la pell” walking route. This tour will take you through the major industrial sites of the leather tanning district and El Rec: squares where they kept salted or dried leather, old tanneries, textile factories, museums and more.

In the Leather Museum of Igualada and Anoia County, the first of its kind in Spain, you’ll get to explore the world of leather. Thanks to our cheap trips to Igualada, you’ll be able to enjoy this great collection, divided between two emblematic buildings: the Cal Boyer factory and the old Cal Granotes tannery.

In the new part of Igualada, you’ll discover the longest straight avenue in Spain: Passeig Verdaguer. One and a half kilometres long, it is flanked by verdant trees, creating an inviting tunnel that helps you escape the crowds. A stroll along this major thoroughfare will let you enjoy some really interesting Modernist houses and towers.

If you choose one of our amazing package deals to Igualada, you’ll be pleasantly surprised: the village is home to the Railhome BCN Miniature Train Museum. This space covering over 500 square metres, you’ll find everything from train parts to uniforms. You won't want to miss the large, illuminated model!
