"We had an amazing relaxing, calming stay at Sophia’s property. It was sparkling clean, well thought out and Sophia drove us to her favourite restaurants for lunch and dinner and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. Couldn’t ask for better service! Plus breakfast was delicious, highly recommend staying with Sophia. We stayed a couple weeks after the earthquake and the property is very safe and has no damage."

"We were in this hotel when the big earthquake hit (epicenter about 10 miles south) and it was very scary. The hotel staff were so nice and calming and reassuring. they got right to work cleaning up all the broken stuff and checking all rooms and reassuring people. Then when it was discovered there was damage to the water tank and there would be no water in the guestrooms they found us another place to stay so we were perfectly comfortable and cared for. "Encounter Hostel was GREAT!! I would definitely stay again! The place was about a 7 min taxi ride and it was clean, big, and airy. Four people stayed and we had nothing but praise for this place. The owner, Mr. Wang and his employees went out of their way to accommodate us. He even helped us with our other problems at our different hotels, staying on the phone with us (we speak very little chinese) and even bargaining prices for us! You don't get that just anywhere!"

"Hotel seems quite new. Room is fairly spacious and beds are comfortable. Shower has good pressure and consistent temperature. Breakfast (vegetarian) spread is very good and tasty. Hotel has own car park sites just behind the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is great - walking distance to night market and several famous eateries. Will definitely stay here again if I come to Hualien"

"Very nice stay in the suite with a delicious breakfast. Unfortunately the earthquake cut our stay short, but they were so accommodating and made sure we were taken care of. "Location by the sea and beach. room has view of the sea. Can hear the waves in bed. Great ocean view and best to see the sunrise. Rooms are spacious and clean. Tv channel is good and wide range. Breakfast is simple but good. Only drawback is the location. kind of isolated but if it is the peace and quietness then this is the place. Just cab in and out of the area. Cab ride around 10mins to get to town."
