"Received an upgraded room, very large, bed was comfortable. Large jetted tub, although there is distance between the toilet and bedroom, there is no door. Service is excellent, supper was tasty, buffet breakfast is sufficient with breads, meats, cheese, cereals. Outdoor space is pretty with trees and outdoor lights for the evening. Minor issues: The gym is very small, does not function well. Coffee is not 24 hours a day as indicated so if you are an early morning person, you must wait to get it. A fine place to stay!"

"I booked 1 room in Hotel Sonnenhof on 16th February, via Hotels.com, for a stay commencing on 28th May. Hotel sent me a message on 27th May that I was not in Hotel Sonnenhof in Timelkam, but at an apartment in Lenzing, 4.5km further away. No pre-warning was given, no rationale for the change in location, no option to cancel or reduction in rate was offered. I was very upset when I received the message on 27th May (the day before I was due to stay at the hotel). It was really inconvenient to be in a different location from my friend, and required that I drive back and forth from Timelkam to Lenzing multiple times. As I was only informed the day before the stay was due to start, I had no option to cancel and rebook elsewhere as nothing else was available. In addition, the apartment was in a poor location, not of a good quality, and the kitchen crockery was incomplete. The hotel reception was very slow to respond to communication, and only available in the mornings. Do not stay here - very poor service."

"Ein schönes Hotel, bestehend aus mehreren, miteinander verbundenen Häusern. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich eine Thermen-Welt, die durch einen Poolbereich auf dem Dach abgerundet wird. Das Hotel verfügt über eine recht große Tiefgarage. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber, das Personal immer freundlich. Bei der Anreise stehen Gepäckwagen zur Selbstbedienung bereit. Hier hätte ich mehr Service erwartet. Auch die Mittagsbewirtung auf der Terrasse (am Samstag) war etwas holprig. Alles in allem trotzdem ein angenehmer und erholsamer Aufenthalt."

"I booked a “Deluxe Loft, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking, City View” that was supposed to be 538 sq ft (ca. 50 m²) When I got to the hotel, I was given a room that was barely 150 sq ft (ca. 14 m²), and when I asked the reception if a mistake was made, I was told the loft I booked was “closed for the winter”. Instead of a nice city view, we had a lousy view of a fatigued backyard. That is a problem because the room I got was much cheaper than the one I paid for. In addition to that, the Loft is still available as I am writing this, so if it's an error, no one bothered to fix it. Then, there's the fact that regardless of the room size, the hotel Forstinger doesn't deserve four stars at all. There was mold in the shower, the bathroom is overall old and moldy, the mattress is a disgrace, very uncomfortable, the “gym” is one lousy stepping machine in a corridor, and breakfast, charged €28 per person, is barely worth €10/person. I travel for work a lot, I am in 20+ different hotels each year, between three and five stars, and I can say with certainty that the Hotel Forstinger doesn't deserve four stars. Three at most. I don't thank you for almost ruining what was supposed to be a very nice experience. Luckily, everything else in Schärding beside the hotel Forstinger was a very pleasant experience. In the end, with breakfast, I paid €260 for one night, I was expecting much better."

"Very modern, spacious, quite and comfortable. Smooth self check in and check out at any hour. A bit strange solution for a bathroom light (turns on automatically and is a bit bright at night), but it is a minor thing. Overall is great for a rest on a way to Salzburg."
