"What a gem! We were very happy to stay one night here between the drive from Christchurch to Blackball, where we started a multi day hike. It was the cleanest place I’ve seen for a long time, heater was turned on for us before we arrived, and the breakfast provision very generous. The owner was very friendly showing us the shared lounge, which was great to use. We would have loved to stay longer so will be back!"

"We stayed 1 night, we were passing through (off season). Few guests, all quiet, morning breakfast alright, price was fair. Shower and restrooms adequate with soap and plenty of hot water, towels provided in good condition. The only issue i had was that this lodge was very far from the road, up a gravel road with no guard rails at all. Either it was not disclosed or i didnt find it on the website. Very scary getting up to the lodge after sunset, in the dark, dodging rabbits left and right."
