"Nice location, a good walk to most sights but at the most it was a 10+ minute walk to Mahammad Ali Museum, Whiskey Row, 4th Street Live and the Derby City Gaming downtown. We felt safe walking together day and night; saw a few homeless people and yes I was asked once for money but never felt unsafe. When we arrived, we immediately saw the Holiday Inn Express sign to park at the parking garage next to the hotel. But first, drive past that and leave your luggage at the hotel if you have a lot to carry! Then park, then check in and tell the front desk staff that you’re already parked, they will add $21 a day to your room and give you a paper with a QR code to scan to come & go in the parking lot. Check-in for some took a while, but the gentleman that checked us in was fast and efficient! The hotel is pretty, and the breakfast was very good with a lot of seating. There's a small market near the front desk for food, alcohol, drinks, etc -but no price list on the wall and nowhere does it say but you can't charge anything to your room. "Corporate Policy", we were told. Cash and credit card only. No signs telling you this though. In fairness, items we bought were reasonably priced. There's an easy remedy - signs. Future guests will thank you. As for the room, our king bedroom was big, the bed was very comfortable. Great lighting in bathroom! Keurig in the room. We loved it, really!"
