"I chose El Capitan because my dog was free. Everything went smoothly. The room was great, no one said anything about my dog (except "Can I pet him?"), in and out was a breeze, and I found parking across the street. Good location too. However, I don't know why they had to put me down two hallways on Floor 4. During my stay, the elevator never opened on either Floor 2 or 3, indicating an absence of inhabitants on those floors. Also, I only saw two other customers on Floor 4. I could not quite close the blackout curtains after a number of tries, so they let in some light in the early morning."

"We've stayed at this hotel many times over the last year or so on our return to Southern California from our vacation home near Eureka. Our main reason for using Sparks at Santa Nella is because of the convenient location which makes our second day of driving relatively easy. The room and the bed are fine. Perhaps missing a few extras like a coffee maker in the room and sufficient power/USB ports on one side of the bed. We are both elderly (82 and 80) so need it for things like CPAP machines/hearing aid and phone chargers next to the bed. Neither of these items is important. However, I would warn others, especially elderly travelers about the bath. When wet the bath in extremely slippery and the non-slip finish is either worn or ineffective (room 143). There is no nonslip mat to place in the bath, and it has a grab bar at one end and the soap dispensers at the other. I slipped when I collected body wash and nearly fell; fortunately no injury. My other disappointment is the breakfast. Yes, I know it is just a continental breakfast but even so the ingredients offered are limited and of low quality --- generic cheap cereal/ no waffle machine/no bread for toast, just bagels/poor mini muffins/just one overripe banana. I say this when I compare similar hotels that we use on our outward journey. Their breakfast offerings are far superior, and the hotel price is about the same. I have mentioned these breakfast views before but nothing changes."

"It is a new hotel, and so most amenities are clean. That said, the bathroom floor has a spot that needs cleaning. There are no laundry bags in the room. The window is a bit thin, and highway traffic noise can get in through the door in the early morning. All in all, it is a good hotel."

"Check in was wonderful; pleasant person, quick, easy and we were given a room at the back away from the highway noise. Room was relatively clean (freshly painted, but showing its age). Surprisingly quiet. Check out was a simple matter of turning in the key, but the staff was very pleasant, even though it was very early."

"The staff is nice and first a couple of days it was bad then they switch me to a different part of the hotel , it was way nicer , has coffee maker and k cup coffee , 2 towels instead of one . "
