The owner is friendly and down to earth.

The owner of the property is so friendly and down to earth. He gave us some advices on dining and things to do around. We were given some home baking - chocolate brownie which were superb!

Cozy and tidy, but avoid the ensuite

My partner and I stayed in the ensuite room for several nights; the ensuite room is literally attached to the home of the owners so it really feels more like you're staying the night with mom and dad as opposed to having your own private quarters (we could smell their dinner every night). Everything was very clean and in good condition but the room was incredibly small, eg there was nowhere out of the way to put our suitcases, I whacked my toes off the wall multiple times as the gap between the bed and said wall was very narrow, and the small hanging rack where you can choose to hang a few articles of clothing is directly above the counter where you have your hot kettle/coffee/tea, so you kind of have to choose whether you want to hang clothes or be able to see the drink you're prepping. The bathroom was also pretty tight, with the open shower being directly in front of the toilet, so we kept towels spread all over the floor to keep our feet dry. There was also no light outside our room (we think it was burned out?) - the first time I went to leave after dusk I almost twisted my ankle as it was pitch dark and I couldn't see the step down. I would say our stay would have definitely been better if we'd gone with the garden suite, but given the money we paid for the room we really didn't feel that the ensuite was worth the price, in addition to its small size being really unsuitable for our extended stay.

Very homely

Very welcoming place. Close to the hot pools and the shops. The most amazing home baked halzelnut brownies were left for us too.

Amazing little get away. Loved it!

Absolutely beautiful. Stunning little cottage, very homely and private. Amazing homemade brownies on arrival which was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend and stay again

Garden room

Just three rooms available. We had one of the garden cotrages which was set delightfully in the garden. Good sized room with kitchenette. Shower room also had a spa bath. Property was central and yet along a quiet road. Hosts were delightful. Used washing machine and line. Shame we could not have stayed a second night. Of our twelve nights in south island this was our favourite place.

Lovely friendly garden rooms so close to the pools

Harrogate Gardens is a lovely, private sanctuary with friendly hosts and beautiful gardens. Just a few minutes walk from the hot pools. Highly recommended

We had a short but lovely stay - the hosts were delightful and although the room was small, it had everything we needed. The daily baking was a bonus!

Friendly proprietors who left home-made brownies as a welcome gift. The room was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed, plus a beautiful garden outlook. We had a very pleasant stay.

lovely hotel walking distance from everywhere

Had a lovely stay - the room was ready, with home baked goodies and comfortably appointed. Hostess was very helpful. The hotel is walking distance from the pools and town centre, so the car stayed parked and I could just relax as I enjoyed my stay.

Lovely spot in Hamner Springs

Sue welcomed us and oriented us to our room and local sifts and restaurants. She is a fabulous host, and even made us brownies! The room was so nicely appointed with lovely decorations, very comfortable bed and a window seat looking out on a very pretty garden. I would highly recommend anyone staying there.

Nice quiet location close to hot springs.

Lovely well appointed room with comfy bed in quiet area within 5 minutes walk of all Hanmer Springs facilities including the hot springs which are well worth a visit. Wifi weak but plenty of hotspots in town.

Quite and pleasant.

Was a pleasant stay.Arrived to home baked chocolate brownie.The room was very pleasant. Only downside was the bed was made up of two singles and the pillows were really firm. Apart from that was an enjoyable stay .
