The location wasn’t ideal, and the outside of the property was not clean at all. There was a lot of junk and clutter at the entrance, which gave a poor first impression. The room also did not have air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable, and the shower water had a strange fish-like odor that was very unpleasant.
On the positive side, the housekeeping staff was very helpful, friendly, and attentive to our needs, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the property and the issues with the room outweighed the positive service.
Overall, this hotel was just right for our needs for a two-night stay in Reykyavik. The room was minimalistic but roomy enough for a family of 4, I liked the heavy curtains that kept the light out as it was still daylight at midnight. I would have appreciated a night lamp, and an outlet next to the bed so I can charge my phone near me as opposed to having to walk to the other side of the room to switch off the light/put my phone to charge. The bathroom was functional and just fine, it had a hairdryer as well. The coffee maker only worked if someone was pushing the button continuously while the coffee was being made, and the lid of the thrashcan wouldn't open with the foot pedal, it had to be opened manually. While the room was OK, there was a bad smell upon entry into the building, it smelled like bad fish, it seemed to be coming from some thrashbags piled up on the right side of the entrance (wish that someone took those outside but there is no staff at the property that you could talk to really, checkin and checkout are all online). It is not a luxury stay but the room was clean, the bed was great and although no breakfast on site, there are grocery stores and restaurants nearby.
The customer service of this place is next to none. They provided a code that doesn’t work for one of the doors we had to go through and no one cared to fix it. We were lucky that someone else with a valid code opened the door for us. I reported the problem right away and no one came to fix the issue at all. The contact property messages were a joke since it solved nothing. We were forced to stay in the room the whole time of our stay fearing we won’t be lucky enough the second time we got stuck at the door.
There were no shampoo and body wash in the bathroom, either. The room itself is clean, but I won’t recommend this place at all.
