Good view, excellent service
This 3 stars hotel is a little dated, has great view to the river, convenient locations to market and eateries. We stayed (1 night) on the first floor facing river/main street. Therefore, noisy from about 6am. Bring ear plugs. Front desk staffs were extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you, you've made our stay that much pleasant.

The only really good thing about this hotel is location, with great views on the river front of the river out into the ocean. We stayed for 3 nights in the best room - the Presidential Suite on the 6th floor. There certainly are better alternatives around town, but not with the view. Maintenance is non-existant - the last time a dollar was spent was as the builder walked away. Everywhere there are signs of deterioration. Everything is falling apart. The sky roof has been shut down - all the tiles have lifted, doors are broken. Only 1 of the two lifts was working. Furniture and carpets are very tired. Our room was quite dirty and didn't improve during our stay. But, location, location, location and views.

I booked a Deluxe Suite for my Fiance, her mother, elderly grandmother, and pregnant aunt so they would have a nice place to stay at for their vacation in Ha Tien. They were promised a river view from the room, but all they saw from the room was the roof top of the lower portion of the hotel. The bathtub inside the room was broken. One of the sinks was clogged. The drapes and decor was seriously outdated. But those are just minor things that was more of a setback than anything. My family noticed that the AC unit in one of the rooms of the suite was not properly working. This was a 10pm at night, and everyone was getting ready for bed. We called the front desk for assistance. They sent a technician up to address the problem, and he confirmed the problem and said he had to get someone else to fix it. We waited for 20 minutes for the other guy to come up. The second guy comes up, and has a audacity to tell us that the AC was properly working and that it was connected to the other AC, and told us to wait 20 minutes more. If the unit wasn't working, to call the front desk once again. This made absolutely no sense. The AC unit was obviously not blowing cold air, for the past few hours, and it was confirmed. We asked to be moved to a different room, but the hotel was unable to accommodate us. The service, technician, staff, and hotel was pathetic. This is by far the worst place I've booked. If you're visiting Ha Tien, stay away.

Dear Mr/Mrs, Firstly, We thank you for choosing The River Hotel. In a second hand I would like to point out that you have never been to our hotel since, as you say, you have made reservations for other people than yourself; you only base your comments on what other people have said. Then you are very angry because you arrived a day later than expected and wanted us to reimburse you for the first night; know that normally we could have cashed all your reservation and not give you a room since you were not present on the day scheduled for your reservation; .For the view if you do not see the river through the large bay windows is that you really need glasses. It is the first time that a customer complains about the view from our rooms, everyone finds the views beautiful. Now we want explain the whole story and words we want to tell you who have just heard the story from your Fiance and her family. The first thing, You booked one deluxe suite room for 2 nights (June 19th – June 21st) from Expedia the June 14th and 3 days later the June 17th, you sent to us one message to tell about the plan would change that your Fiance and her family would not come on the first day and she want us to give her money back in cash for that, this one absolutely not suitable with the policy of our hotel and for expedia policy also ; your mother-in-law said: “why they can not take money back while they just booking the room in 8 minutes before?”, this one is absolutely not the true . The second thing, during the time she stayed in the afternoon, she had not any problem with the room until the evening.At 11 pm she say all of a sudden that the AC in the room was not extremely cool; the receptionist had called our maintenance staff to check it and he said: “in 20 minutes later, if the AC was not still working, they could call the receptionist to give them the solution may be changing another room but then they didn’t, that means we thought everything was alright”. The third thing, in the morning when checking-out, your mother-in-law was very impolite under the lobby, she was yelling at the receptionist and keep hitting her hand under the table while our staff tries to explain with a polite attitude. The fourth thing, one double room used one mineral water but your mother in law didn’t want to pay that one while that room had no problem and one glass in the deluxe suite room was broken but she didn’t want to pay as well. Finally, we sorry about the problem with the AC that made your family had a bad experience but we will not sorry for your bad mother-in -law’s attitude. We hope, we will not welcome your family to our hotel in the future. And put 2 times the same note is not intelligent even if you put your second note under anonymous ...all readers can understand your idiot attitude . Thanks and best regards, Mr. Nhân

The only thing I liked here was the staff. But this hotel's management needs to change. On our first night they ran out of toilet paper. Had to run out to get some first thing in the morning.

Hello and thank you for choosing our hotel; we are glad you liked our staff; we are sorry that your stay did not like you; it is very surprising that you did not have toilet paper in your room because our houskeeping clean every day more 80 rooms and we never have this comment ; but in any case to judge our hotel as horrible only for this reason demonstrated given your anonymous comment that you do not want us to know who you are; therefore your opinion is useless since we cannot verify this problem; moreover it was not worth running, especially if you had planned to go to the toilet, it suffices to call the reception which would have made you deliver toilet paper immediately; I also specify that we have a telephone next to the wc in the bathroom. which could have helped you even more. Excuse us again for this HUGE annoyance, and we inform our general manager that he need better manage our toilet paper

This hotel supposed to be a three star and the best in Ha Tien, but unfortunately it did not live to it title. The building was not that clean, and aircon not working properly. We have told and complained numerous times about the aircon and there is not much they can do about. Also about the buffet breakfast, their rule was if than 30 people, they will not serve buffet, but instead they would provide you some simple dishes , from their menu, and not much to choose from. You will only find out when you get there that buffet is not served and you will not get your refund..We have to pay an extra $350K in dong per night just for the folding bed in the same room. We would never book that hotel again.

For your complaint, we believe that with the Expedia process, you can give us the notice directly during your stay, but you do not do anything and we do not know how to solve your problem. After all, you put your comment on this website as if we do not care about our client. We are a 3 star hotel, we always take care of our guests at all times. We think that the problem is your problem, you are angry about the breakfast, when you check in, we informed you of our buffet breakfast organization policy, at that time you were agreement with politics. You are angry because you can not have breakfast buffet, indeed we have breakfast with 3 menus to choose from and our guest can eat at will.About the price for an extra bed in our room, it is clearly explained on the expedia website, and you can check before you book a room; you have a choice for many cheap hotels in Ha Tien; but if you want to stay in a 3 star hotel you have to pay the price; to follow your comment, it is better that you never come back in our place ; when you want a luxury hotel, you have to pay the price, if you can not , choose another place, it's better for you and for us.

Hotel is clean. Staffs are friendly and nice. Locates next to river where travelers can easily buy speed boat ticket to visit Phu Quoc island. Also near local market and lots of eateries in walking distance....

Nicest hotel in town. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice view. The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was not a buffet which was surprising since the restaurant appeared to be set up for a buffet and all other hotels that we stayed in during our 8 nights similar priced and rated hotels in Vietnam came with quite a nice breakfast spread. There was a set menu with 3 options. I ordered the Asian which was a pretty solid meal and my wife ordered the Continental which was 2 baguettes, a small plate of fruit and a tiny portion of yogurt which arrived frozen. The coffee was undrinkable.

Thank you for staying at Riverhotel Ha-tien; we are happy that you like our rooms and our staff; for breakfast indeed according to our occupancy rate, we propose either the buffet or three menus as you have good explained. On the other hand, I think the staff mis-explained our formulas and I just go now went to reprimand them; in fact you have in addition to formulas a small fridge available or you have at your disposal at will jam, butter and pastries; tea, coffee and fruit juice are also at will next; for yogurt, that's not what you think ; it is an cream frozen that's a specialty of our city; the cafe does not have the same taste in europe ; many customers like it ;no forget you are in Vietnam ; ask me next time , my name is Eric and i can help you if you have some desagrements ; we are sorry for this misunderstanding and we hope to receive you again to better satisfy you.

Thank you for choosing the River Hotel; we are sorry for the problems you have encountered during your stay and we send your review to the housekeeping departement; it is unfortunate that you have not expressed your disagreements during your stay; for our breakfast consists of either a buffet or a choice of 3 formulas according to our occupancy rate. For the 3 formulas we have a breakfast continental an American or Asian. For the buffet we have a minimum of 7 hot dishes (for example Cantonese rice, nems, bacon, steamed vegetables, fried fish, meatballs, japanese noodles, hard boiled eggs); we also have one place where we can cook for you the eggs as you wish (omelette,scrambled eggs or fried...), another post make for you a soup of Vietnamese seafood; Tea, coffee, two fresh juices, a soda, water and fresh milk or sugar milk are at your disposal; a homemade frozen yogurt , fruit, pastry specialties from our town are included also for your enjoyment: salads, bread, butter, jam are also present for the more French. we hope to receive you another time to be able to satisfy you better;

Expensive for what it’s worth.
Our family of 4 booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 2. Hotel was clean, services ok, breakfast options and quality could be improved. laundry service was not available (their dryer wasn’t working at the time) but hotel would/could not organise an alternative option and did not notify us in advance. There is also a lot of construction work( dusty) and not much to do around whole area thus we left after visiting Phu Quoc. Overall the hotel was expensive for what it’s worth.

Ha Tien is very famous city in vietnam and many poet write about this city ;if you ask us we can organize more 10 tours of the city and around where there are many pagodas and temples as well as a very nice catholic church ... We can also offer you visits of pretty lakes by the river. We have two totally private islands with beautiful beaches or you can spend an incredible romantic day and enjoy a very good meal; these islands are accessible only with our private boat and are 35 minutes from our hotel. Your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures in accordance with the management team to address the problems that you have mentioned. Hello thank you for choice the River hotel during your stay in Ha-tien and for taking the time for write one review about our hotel ;we apologise for the noise of the birds and for the music but this one it is not our management ; for the music she come from the restaurants on the river side where vietnamese people like karaoke , because Ha-tien is a very famous city for tourism in vietnam ; for the bird noise he com from the building for collect the bird nests and all stop at 7 pm ;all the hotels in Ha-tien have exactly the same environement , you have the possibility to book the room with a river view and in this case you have no bird noise ; we hope to see you again in the river view room .

We extended our stay a second night and the staff seemed more attentive. Also, the breakfast buffet was back and the fresh fruit was a welcomed addition.

Hotel was adequate for the price, clean rooms. Staff seemed distracted and too busy even though the hotel was quiet with few guests. Breakfast buffet was closed due to low occupancy. Menu options were good.

Good location. Nice view. Clean room. A little noisy until 10pm. Lots of tour bus traffic because they park next to hotel. Windows did not close completely so that was reason for it being extra noisy.

We really enjoyed this hotel, it is very modern, with big rooms, comfortable bedlovely bed linen. Bathrooms are spacious with nice toiletries towels and hairdryer. It was so nice having a soak in the bath with lots of hot water. Breakfast was ok but catered more towards the Chinese but there were eggs and omelette made to order. Good location by the river and lots of food places near by. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel

Hello, thank you for coming to our hotel; the hotel was renovated in summer 2017 and the problems are settled, there are many things to do in Ha Tien but you must search a little bit, for example we now organize tours of the city where there are many pagodas and temples as well as a beautiful catholic church ... We can also offer you visits to pretty lakes by the river. And above all we have two totally private islands with beautiful beaches where you can spend an incredible romantic day and enjoy a very good meal; these islands are accessible with our private boat only and are 35 minutes from our hotel. They are located between Phu Quoc and Ha tien and are located in the archipelago of pirate islands. We take over all the management of these two totally wild jewels but already well arranged by us, we organize days including a visit by electric car of the biggest island of the pirates then departure for our private island where you will spend the day by taking a excellent lunch of seafood (or other dishes if you want) or if you prefer you can do yourself a small barbecue at the edge of the water; Finally you can relax on our two beaches completely wild and private, it is even possible to spend the night in two small houses, the landscape under the stars is simply unique;See you soon to discover all the beautiful places of our city;Mr Chanh General Manager.

Lovely room, great view, not so great breakfast
The room itself was large, modern and very comfortable, with a great view of the river. Only issue we did have was that there was no hot water for the two nights we were there, even after reporting it, they were unable to fix it so we had to boil the kettle for a hot bath. Hotel is a great location for exploring the area (hiring a scooter is a must). Must note that the breakfasts were awful, food was ice cold, and not all that tasty, otherwise I would recommend this hotel

For the buffet we have a minimum of 7 hot dishes (for example Cantonese rice, nems, bacon, steamed vegetables, fish donuts, meatballs, japanese noodles, hard boiled eggs); we then have one place where we can cook for you the eggs as you wish (omelette,scrambled eggs or fried...), another post serving you a soup of Vietnamese seafood; Tea, coffee, two fresh juices, a soda, water and fresh milk or sugar are at your disposal; homemade yoghurts, fruit, pastry specialties from our town are included also for your enjoyment: salads, bread, butter, jam are also present for the more French ; sorry one more time and we hoppe see you again in the futur ; Mr Chanh General Manager.

A great hotel - a stand out in Ha Tien
Nice hotel, staff try to be as helpful as possible. It is definitely a stand out for Ha Tien but by western standards would be 3 star. The hotel hot water is solar powered so unless you like cold showers, don't go in storm season. Cleaning needs to be improved (basic vaccuming and dusting) but bathroom hygiene was good.

Cutting the wrong corners
Calamitous finishing and poor staff training sum up to 2 stars instead of the 4 stars this place should be. The hotel boasts a great position and looks the business from the outside. It has a pool which you must have to be 4 star hotel but to access it you must leave the hotel and walk 80 meters or so along the street and enter a gate into the pool area which is not very well screened from the street and with no shade. Little wonder in the 2 days we stayed that we saw no one visit the pool. The breakfast buffet is impressive mainly because the hotel caters for coach parties, but the staff have not been trained properly. Bain Mairees were left open and not closed, a guest dropped a piece of meat on the floor in open walkway that was stepped over by every member of staff and not picked up and even tho the staff were mainly standing in position around the room no tables were cleaned until a guest left. There were 8 chairs around each table but it was really only possible to sit a maximum of 6 around a table. The table cloths were too small, just hanging over at the ends but gapping the table top on each side and were not ironed. Our bedroom was a superior double on the 4th floor with a great view over the river, spacious but very poorly furnished with cheap melamine furniture. With acres of space we were bewildered why the bedside cabinet was butted against the left hand wardrobe door which made it impossible to open. The bathroom was equally poorly done and dirty from standing.

Good stopover
Had the hotel to ourselves. Didn't see a single other guest. Room service prompt. Reception booked our ferry tickets to Phu Quoc. Excellent spice in clean room with amazing view over the river. Breakfast the only disappointment. Although we were pleased to be given vouchers for the beautiful floating restaurant opposite, the breakfast itself was poor. No real choice with many menu options "not available" left me with toast, butter and a weird yoghurt.

Ha Tien hotel
Fantastic room - we had a corner. The bed was big and so comfortable; the room was nicely decorated and with all the amenities. The bathroom was also nice and I have to say their breakfast buffet was impressive.

Nice staff
Friendly and professional, the staff made my stay very pleasant. My room is clean, comfortable, and roomy compared with many five-star hotels in Europe and Japan. This hotel is right in the heart of Ha Tien, where I can have beautiful view of the river. It is the best hotel in Ha Tien and may be the best 4-star hotel in Vietnam

Good enough!!
I just stayed one night to take a ferry to Phu Quoc next morning. Hotel has a good view and very close from main street. Room was clean. Air conditioner was not very strong but enough for good sleeping. Wifi also not very strong signal but I can use it without any inconvenience. Good enough. Price also very reasonable.

Thank you for your stay in our hotel but the problem with this review style is that the customer can put a bad note without any explanation; So, when there are no comments, it is completely unproductive for us and our staff as we do not know the problem you encountered in our hotel.I see only that you wait one month for write your comment , indeed you stay one night 27/12 to 28/12 in a triple room with a beautiful river view. Waren eine Nacht im River Hotel bevor es auf die Fähre nach Phu Quoc ging. War soweit alles ok. Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter und Bedienungen. 5 Minuten mit dem Taxi zum Pier.
