This hotel is lovely, a little tired on the decoration, but over all lovely. The staff just cant do enough for you, and as its a small hotel ihe staff really get to know you and becomes a very personal service. There isnt a beach in the hotel, but access to the sea via steps off a pontoon. Beautiful setting though, and yiu have the pool option from your sun longer too. Just a 5 minute walk is the public beach where there are water sports. The hotel dies have a gym, but very small and tired looking. Mainly cardio machines. The rooms are big and spacious and cleaned everyday. If you want to go out and eat, then there are a few places in walking distance, but to reach Grand Baie you can walk, but mostly its on the road and no pavements. However the bus stop is across from the hotel, and onky takes a few minutes to get there. Only 21 rupess each. The food in the hotel we could not fault, it was absolutely delicious.

We liked the hotel security at front gate made us fell Safe.. the layout was good not many steps . We were on second floor . So had a few . Good size pool a lot of beach lounge chairs. . The room was big in size nice balcony. On second and third floors. Patio on ground floor . Only 50 rooms so their is about 6 blocks ofrooms about 7 rooms per block not noisey. Right next door to beach few minutes walk and bus stops was close..only down side the TV had to watch it on u tube bit frustrating. And they don't give water in room. Beer prices are hotel prices.food was good but we stayed 17 nights so had to eat out couple of times food started taste the same . But would stay there again

At check in has given to me a wrong room (for sure not the room for which I payed). Very out to date room, in the oldest building, dirty and orribile view. I have complained immediately and, the day after, has given to me a nice room, newer and wonderful location, straight to the sea (that’s the room for which I have payed lots money).

Awful awful awful hotel. Staff are rude and treated me like I was something they had trodden in. No WiFi in the room despite ebookers clearly saying this was available in all rooms, otherwise I would not have booked as I had an important work call. Moved rooms because of this and the fact that my patio door would not lock so wasn’t safe, but the new one had a cockroach infestation. The hotel’s response to this was ‘we are on an island’. No apology or surprise - they were probably fully aware of the problem when they put me in there. Moved rooms again at 11.30pm, to one with no towels and that clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Left the next day but so far they have refused to refund me - their excuse was the manager isn’t available as it’s a public holiday. Sorry but you are a hotel that has only just reopened after over a year, and a manager should always be available, jobs in the service industry are still required on public holidays! Avoid this hotel at all costs if you want a nice experience in Mauritius as it has completely ruined mine so far, had to pack and move rooms 3 times and then find somewhere new to stay without being refunded what I have already paid.

Cozy and charming
Grounds were very pretty, rooms are comfortable. The rooftop bar for sunsets is fantastic! A good beach on either side of the hotel.

Hibiscus Boutique Hotel
The Hotel has an excellent location. It is located on the beach. You can swim in the sea or walk 30 meters to a small private beach. We did a lot of snorkelling (bring your own snorkelling gear along) in the area. The location is excellent if you want to travel in Mauritius – you can take the public bus to Grand Baie and the Express bus to Port Louis. Pereybere main beach is also 100 meters away. We were disappointed that the hotel didn’t have its own canoes. You can go to Pereybere beach to hire a canoe, but it is only valid for 30 minutes. There is a diving contractor that operates from the hotel if you are into diving. The rooms were clean but in need of tender loving care. The bathroom shower wasn’t working properly (and not so clean). The basin tiles were cracked, and the mirrors needs upgrading. The wifi was on and off. When we got to the hotel the grass was knee hight. It was only cut a day before we left. We received beach towels only one of the six days – luckily, we brought our own. It just wasn’t ready in the mornings. The personnel were very friendly at the hotel. In the evenings at dinner there weren’t enough personnel to take plates away. The life entertainment was great every evening. I get quit upset when cutlery is chipped! It happened twice that I drank out of a chipped cup. The breakfast was very boring – every morning exactly the same (very filthy coffee pots). The dinners were better at night with great variety.

Hibiscus stay May 2019
We had a great stay in Hibiscus Hotel. It was out of season so the hotel was quiet but the service and food were still excellent. The room was spacious and very clean. Very close to the public beech which is really beautiful. Great shopping 5 minutes away in the car. All in all we had a great stay with no complaints.

Good place for a rest, but the food isn't the best
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There is no actual beach that meets the ocean, there is a wall then lots of large volcanic boulders as a barrier to the ocean, access only off a pier. The food was so bland and the choices were always ,chicken, fish , then beef or lamb, with the same curried flavour. The only variety was the fresh fruits at breakfast...pears, apples & sometimes fresh bananas

Perfect location for a family vacation
We had a lovely stay at Hibiscus. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and spacious. It is well positioned to two beaches and has plenty of options for lunch/dinner around, including a supermarket in walking distance. Bus stop is close for those who like to get around. We would definitely return.

Excellent value for money.
We stayed in a sea-facing room on the ground floor. A floating jetty was 30m away and one could snorkel or swim in the sea from this access. Swimming pool was a little closer. If this resort is looking to make any changes I would suggest increasing the size of the pool. But we did enjoy the pool. The rooms are very large and comfortable with the largest, most comfortable bed we've ever seen. Food was very tasty and catered for all tastes. Service excellent! This hotel is on the top of my list if we should visit the island again.

Below expectations but nice location
+ Clean room, surroundings are nice, garden well kept, friendly staff, direct access to the sea (rocky side) and adjacent to two beaches, parking with security guard. - airconditioning near the room is noisy, each room has its own unit and even if you turn it off you can hear the neighbours. A small pest control issue near dining tables. Overall the hotel set up and furniture was below our expectations. The entrance hall looks old and modestly decorated with no air conditioning, the restaurant has a nice view on the sea but in more than one occasion we saw cockroaches and aunts, the staff is friendly but seems mismanaged. This hotel has potential considering the nice garden, beach access and views on the sea, it would benefit greatly from a few upgrades and better management.

Our expectations were met
My husband lives in the island and we had lost power so we were keen to get our electronics recharged, have a hot shower, and have a hot meal. Hibiscus did the trick for us. Our expectations were met. We went for one night and decided to stay a second. This is a cozy well run 2-3 Star boutique hotel. Landscaped palms create privacy and provide great beauty. I used the hammam and had a superb massage with Sylvie (in the hotel facilities but separate enterprise so bring cash). Checkin was easy. Room was clean. Meals were pretty good. Make-shift beach as well as access to a small private beach. We went to the next beach “Peyebere” and hired a boat for 30 minutes. We took our own snorkel gear and had a quick snorkel while fully enjoying the gorgeous waters. There are two good restaurants a super short walk away. We chose to take the half board and eat on property just to keep life simple. If you are a foodie, opt just for the breakfast (which has an egg station, many breads, some fruits...) and eat out.

Real ease to the place!
My husband lives on Mauritius and I was visiting. The power went out so I did extensive research about the various accommodations in the Grand Baie area and we hopped over to Hibiscus for our first stay there ever. One night turned into two. Wish it had turned into six! Great rhythm to the place.

Pretty hotel close to Beach
A very private and quiet hotel close to a lovely clean sandy beach. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are large and very clean. Terraced restaurant overlooking the picturesque bay, with very pretty gardens to the rear to complete the overall feeling of being in Mauritius. We are pleased we opted for the breakfast only package, as the menu is limited and the hotel is located walking distance to local varied choice of restaurants. Jashvin, one of the restaurant waiters was an efficient professional, friendly waiter who we feel is an asset to the restaurant facility. If you are looking for night life, about 1.5 km walk is Grand Bauer, with shops and more livelier restaurants, but the journey by foot or bus is somewhat an experience. Our overall summary of the hotel and location is one of peace, tranquility and in a lovely position, considering the small roads leading into Pereybere can be somewhat give a feeling of 'Crazy Mauritian' drivers, with no pavements and buildings that are more of old traditional local living, than a holiday spot. If you are looking for a chilled out and restful hotel, The Hibiscus will tick all your boxes.

The hotel receptionist said that hotel has no water bottled water and always with the excuse that they are a 3 star. Hence, they will not improve. No complimentary tea or coffee in room. Food is expensive but the cooking is poor. Only 1 staff at restaurant is helpful. The rest did not even know what type of tea they can offer. Cockroaches and lizards which they cant manage.

Not up to the mark as rated. Really bad experience
Despite the resort in the good view location but it's is not up to the expectation for a 4-star. Poor management in everything. Poor breakfast, not much food and the same menu every day. No cleaness in the cooking. The room was ok, but no facilities like an Iron and a board, no coffee maker, no good wifi and basic dental and shower supplies. Overall the resort was a below average for a 4-star rated resort.

It was fine, considering the cost of the hotel we were expecting a better infrastructure or at least well maintained (is not). the Staff at the hotel is very good, professional with excellent customer service, the only plus that the hotel has. Hope the owner values them, as the hotel is falling apart.

The situation of the hotel is very good to commute
It was a good experience compare to our first time in Mauritius. The hotel was ok, I would not go there again. We paid for half board and the food standard was not good at all. They had skeleton staff in the restaurant, afternoon lunch, nobody is there to take your food request. I am vegetarian, so had to tell the hotel manager to tell the chef to cook something without any meat. Breakfast was so basic, only fruit they were doing was bananas, orange and pineapple. It seems like a rundown hotel. They need to upgrade the rooms and facilities. Spa room didn't have air condition for days, so we had to cancel our massage and other treatments.

Disappointed stay in Hibiscus
We spent a week at this hotel and after coming there with high hopes, after the first two days we regretted the decision to choose this hotel especially for the money that we paid for it. The things the disappointed us were: 1. When we arrived the room was only superficially cleaned 2. The towels were dirty in the first day. 3. We received one of the worst rooms that they have which has the bathroom in the same room with you separated by a partial glass wall (you can imagine the smell). Not all rooms are like that by any means but if you are unlucky like we were … 4. Several times we found cockroaches in the room, and I only taking here about the big ones. 5. We choose this hotel for the location and for the free Wifi in the room , and when we got there we found out that they relay had only to wifi hotspots one at the reception and one at the restaurant . If your room is closed to one of those you have wifi in the room if not you have to spend you night in the balcony like we did to catch some wifi signal. 6. In one of the days it started raining a lot outside and also in our bathroom . The things that we like: 1. The inside court yard of the hotel was very nice with big trees and lots of plants , with fish and birds , it was like a small jungle. 2. The hotel has a private beach which had wifi , Pereybere public beach which is right next to the hotel and another small beach which were excellent for a swim.

Great loc if you drive but staff can do better
8 night stay at Hibuscus in Nov - Dec 2016. Great location, nice snorkelling experience but could do better for staff. Tucked away in Pereybere, North East of the island, it was one of the furthest point from the Airport and it took us nearly an hour to drive to the hotel after landing. We weren't impressed at first sight, as the hotel looked OLD and under maintained. We were given a room on the 2nd floor and as we will be lugging our dive gear up and down to the room without an elevator, we requested to change to a room on the ground level but were given patronising answers over and over. We eventually got used to the room.

Nice hotel very close to a pleasant beach
Don't be put off by the outer look of the hotel because it is really beautiful once you get inside; you are welcomed with the direct view of the sea. The cobbled path to your hotel room it surrounded by coconut trees and are lit up with fairy lights. providing a beautiful ambience and feel of the expected Mauritian feel. Freshly cooked pancakes and omelettes were made to order during breakfast which were accompanied with fruit, freshly baked bread and the usual English breakfast. Dinner was a mixture of buffet styled food, food from a bbq but most nights they were a set meal of starters, mains and dessert; though they should provide a traditional Mauritian meal for one of the nights. I liked the idea that wifi was only available in the lobby meaning we were able to switch off from the outside world and enjoy our holiday. The hotel is situated very close to a public beach which is quiet during weekdays and the hotel is located within a 5 minute walk from a supermarket. It is also close to Grand Baie, (about 20 min walk if you're up for it) which has malls and varies restaurants and bars. Overall, we both had a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend going to this hotel.

Very nice hotel close to the beaches
Overall this is a wonderful but yet a beautiful hotel close to the sea, where you can wind down and relax in the quiet setting of the complex. The staff are very kind and friendly, available to cater to all your needs, request and cannot fault them in the level of service provided. All in all I would go definitely go back for future holidays without a shadow of a doubt. Well done Hibiscus!!

We really had a great stay at hotel hibiscus.. Staff if friendly and location of hotel is great it's beach is beautiful. For me surprise birthday cake from hotel is just amazing... Only small loop hole is wifi connection... I hope they will improve it soon. Thanks hibiscus for making our holiday amazing experience.

The staff were lovely but unable to accept my tip on my credit card when I was paying my hotel bill meaning they didn't get a tip. I feel strongly that hotel management should look after their staff and sort this out. Also The 'tea and coffee making facilities' in the room was just a kettle. No tea, milk sugar cup etc. The toiletries advertised was only a soap in the shower. So a bit bit disappointed there. The staff of the hotel are by far the best assest of the .hotel

Smelly rooms and rock hard beds
Very disappointing. We had a smelly, musty room and the hardest, most uncomfortable beds with old linen and towels and very outdated furniture. The only saving grace for this hotel is the beautiful setting, the outdoor pool and beach as well as the stunning view from the restaurant/bar area. Update and refurbish your rooms and reception area and you would have one of the best places in Mauritius! I wouldn't go there again and I wouldn't suggest to any South African person to go there. We are accustomed to outstanding, immaculate accommodation and this place wasn't up to our expected standards. We were disappointed as we believed we were going to experience the trip of a lifetime!. Peter, the Manager definitely did everything possible to improve our stay, however.

Nice spot to stay and still good value but did not match the advertising in terms of what was offered. No bathrobes or tea and coffee in the rooms. Free movies all in French and very limited selection.

Secluded Paradise
We had a wonderful stay at Hibiscus Hotel. We had read other reviews of the hotel some of which were critical of the reception staff. Such earlier comments are definitely no longer valid. The hotel is now under new management and all staff are very polite and helpful, they do everything to make your stay a memorable experience. It was our honeymoon which they didn't know previously still when we told them they gave us a beautiful, spacious room with a terrace overlooking the sea and we they also treated us to a special honeymoon dinner. Thanks to the lovely receptionist who organised all this so kindly and professionally. The catering staff is also outstanding, they are very professional and attentive. The beach, the common area and the rooms are all spotless. The hotel also has a great location h a beautiful private beach and an atmospheric public beach nearby. I would warmly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an escape to paradise.

A wonderful hotel and staff were the best. Food was great. The bedroom was always cleaned everyday and everyone treated you like royality. They have a great beach and swimming pool also activities like scuba diving.

Nice hotel for a family beach vacation.
Great location for a family vacation - kids can splash in the nice swimming pool while adults relax around. Personnel is very friendly and goes out of their way to make the client's stay memorable and comfortable.

Simply paradise
Gorgeous location on the waterfront. Restaurant on the seaside, and very friendly staff. The room was basic, but comfortable, fair sized, simple mini bar. No accessories, such as soap or shampoo. The spa was out of order (or non existing) however several day spa's are conviniently located in the area.
