"The room was a standard King, and the room was on the 9th floor, offering beautiful views of the mountains. It was very well-appointed, with a terrific bath, including two bathrobes. There was a stocked mini-bar, but the downside of that was the liquor took up all of the space in the mini fridge. It was extremely quiet, but it was Sunday evening after all. Unfortunately, we were not able to avail ourselves of the rooftop heated pool, since it was closed due to thunderstorms in the area. Just a footnote on the dining we secured. There is a superb fine dining establishment on the Chamonix Hotel and Casino grounds known as 980 Prime. The food and service are all 5-star and I highly recommend it."

"My big issues to rate a hotel are cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. The hotel and room was immaculate. Staff was polite, kind, efficient and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Location was so convenient to resturants, bars and shopping, plus easy access to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods plus more. One thing I would note: we reserved a king mountain view and we had a beautiful view of Pikes Peak, but it also overlooks the parking lot. Despite being along side of the road, it was very quiet. Breakfast was good, waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereals, breads and yogurts. A plus was good coffee. We loved the indoor pool and hot tub as it rained. Both were clean and we enjoyed this amenity very much."

"Hits and misses: Hits: The outside looks great and the front desk staff was excellent. Very welcoming and explained things well. Only parking is Valet but was worth it as street parking is limited. As others have said the hotel is being renovated so there's some construction going on in the main areas (they state that up front when you make a reservation). Our room was good size and the bed comfortable. There was some wear and tear but it's an old hotel so don't expect new. There are some areas (bathroom) that needed general maintenance. Misses: The bar and restaurant staff could use some assistance or training. We tried the bar but ended up leaving and just going into town. We came back for dinner (we had reservations). The regular dining room is under construction so the current dining room is a back up. It's near the dishwashing area and you could hear people arguing back there. Not the atmosphere you want trying to enjoy a moderately pricey (for us anyway) anniversary dinner. The food though was fine. I'd go back to Cliff House if/when they work out some of the kinks."
