Superb
This place is great! Super friendly and helpful staff, clean pool, awesome outdoor bathrooms, the a/c is super cold, and the value overall can’t be beat.

Really enjoyed our stay, staff were lovely and couldn’t be more helpful! Rooms were clean and pool was great. Some of the resort was a bit rundown, public toilets near the pool and parts of the pool area. Also, no restaurant open at the resort due to low season so couldn’t get food or drink there .

Grand Sunset Gili Air
Grand Sunset Gili Air was a nice surprise. Location good, beautiful sunsets. Manager extremely helpful and gave prompt attention. Our bathroom/room smelled if sewer gas and he was right there for us. The food was very good, but the staff isn’t fluent in English. I was surprised by the primitiveness if the island, but nice breeze and pool were a reluef from Bali heat.

Great view, great pool, great staff
We planned to stay here for 6 nights, but the staff were so helpful and friendly and the hotel so comfortable, that we extended to two weeks. We would highly recommend Grand Sunset.

Gili Air retreat
The staff at Grand Sunset was very helpful and accommodating when it came to setting up day excursions on the island. Great view of the sunset from their private beach. The food at the bar/restaurant was good, especially the fish tacos. Overall, pleasant experience.

We were scheduled to stay here and cancelled as soon as we looked at our room. The property was not what we expected from the pictures. The rooms were small and dark. The bathroom was cleaned and smelled like pure chemicals. The pool was taken over by divers and the beach furniture was in poor condition and not many options to select from to lounge in. Very disappointed and stayed somewhere else.

Lack of staff led to poor experience
Agree with the last review, also confused by multiple 5* ratings. Seemed like more like a collection of rooms to stay in than a hotel. A lot of our problems seemed to be caused by lack of staff so they were always very busy and didn't have time to make you feel welcome or to be polite (especially in the restaurant, where I found them actually rude at times). TVs in the rooms don't work and the WiFi barely works at all anywhere in site. They always seemed to forget to wash their beach towels and took away but didn't replace our room towels. The staff's English wasn't great which made resolving issues tricky, even though they did try their best. Main menu food in the restaurant was good quality but we had the price of our breakfasts refunded after the first day as there was poor choice and everything was cold, cocktails also not great. Divers in the pool would be an issue if you wanted to use it during the day. If you can get a good deal on the price it's OK but I wouldn't recommend paying full amount here, seemed like there were many nicer places on the island!

This was our second trip to Gili Air and stay at the Grand Sunset in two years. We sought out the hotel, as it has a great Scuba Diving School on premise, and both hotel and the dive shop are literally 15m away from the water. Everything seems back to normal after the natural disaster affecting Lombok/Gilis last Nov. It was heart-warming to see how hard management and staff were working at providing a great experience and further expanding their services. This hotel provides excellent value, especially if you are into scuba diving, and it has in our opinion the best location on the island, away from the busy parts on the other side near the harbour. We would definitely go back!

Had an excellent stay would definitely go back. The sunset on a longe chair at the end of the day here is what its all about. The staff were super friendly went above and beyond to insure a pleasant stay. The manager Josh help me out with a couple things I needed and was always around to help guests. Had a breakfast included with severl options to start your day with. You could sit by the pool or walk straight out to the beach. Had good snorkeling rite there or even take a scuba course on site. If your looking for a 5 star luxury resort this isnt it. If your looking for good people a relaxing stay on the beach in a nice place I would recommend these guys .

The staff at Grand Sunset was amazing!!! Very nice! The room was good for the price and breakfast was pretty good! The only downfalls were the hotel being far from most restaurants and bars and the wifi was not very strong and didn't work all the time. Also, the bathroom is outside which gave us a bit of a problem because there were thunderstorms every night. Overall, a great value for the price we paid!

I loved this place and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The location was perfect for me, quiet yet just a quick 5-10 min bike ride to the harbor area where there are many cute shops and cafes. There are also other great places to eat within walking distance. The sunsets cannot be beat and there were plenty of lounge chairs on the beach to enjoy them from. There is a diving company on site, Gili Air Divers, which was very convenient for me since I planned to dive while I was there. The staff at the hotel and at the diving company were all amazing, making me feel welcome and giving me tips on things to do in the evenings. I was sad to leave this place and wish I could have stayed longer!

Close to the beach, great for diving!
Fantastic staff especially the Gili Air Dive crew who trained us in the hotel pool and took us diving out in the sea. Would have started longer if we could have! Restaurant food was pretty average and our hot breakfast on our second day was unfortunately cold. Pillows were terribly uncomfortable but loved the outside shower and bathroom area. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

The scratch restaurant linked to the hotel was amazing. Such good food, staff and atmosphere! Room was ok...lighting was poor, lots of ants in outdoor washroom. No slippers provided. I didn't love the room

Very beautiful location on Gili Air , away from the main strip. Rooms are comfortable, my only complaint would be that there's NO fridge in your room, and no tv channels but they do have a DVD in the room with plenty of choices of a movie to watch from reception

A Bit Disappointing
The room was less than average. The bed was uncomfortable. The exterior was lovely but the interior was badly in need of updating. The hotel staff was lovely and very helpful. The hotel is not near the center of town which means it is quiet but you will have to take a horse carriage into town and back. We were surprised how expensive these rides were 100 IDR each way. (about $7 USD each way.)

The hotel location and staff are great, its tucked away in the quieter part of Gili Air so it's quite peaceful. The pool is wonderful and the restaurant food was great. The rooms however are not in the best condition. There were stains all over the walls, the door doesn't have a good seal so bugs get in all the time. We had multiple caterpillars throughout our room. The bathroom is also outside, which is pretty cool but it als means there can be bugs while you are using the bathroom. The hotel is ok for the price but there are loads of great hotels/homestays on the island so look around before picking this. The owners need to do some renovations to fix this place up.

Wonderful staff but other than that I wouldn't spend your money here. The beach is full of Seagrass, swim on the other side. The rooms are so dark we had to use camera lights to find our clothes in our luggage for the day, the bathroom door wouldn't stay closed unless someone else locked it from the inside. So many holes in the doors probably lead to a scorpion in our room. The food was average tourist food. Again all the staff were very kind and wonderful no fault of theirs. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

I think you would agree with us that mother nature has her own way of doing things and, although we try, to clean the beach twice daily to dispose of the seagrass we find it unfair to expect of our staff to work in the heat of the day in the blazing sun to try and achieve something that they'll have to do again 5 hours later. We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Sunset. The room was pretty basic and the outdoor bathroom was nice and had some hot water. The pool is nice. There is a swim up bar but no one was working there, which we thought was a little strange. We sat by the pool and would have loved to have ordered some food and drinks there. There is a restaurant that provided a nice breakfast and drinks with live music in the evening. We would stay here again.

fantastic stay!
A quieter location around the other side of the location. Lovely pool and has sun loungers on the beach. The Scratch restaurant serves a decent breakfast in the morning. Hotel is near many restaurants and hotels and a few spas. The staff were lovely smiling and always so helpful.

Would be a great hotel with some improvements
This hotel is perfect if you want to be away from the main area but is only a 10 minute walk away for restaurants in the evening. The reception staff are very friendly but we didn't receive a welcome drink that we saw others being offered. The room was not very welcoming as it was very dark even with the light on! The tv and side lamp was not working which I feel should have been checked before entering the room. Everything was fixed but at a very slow pace! Great there was a generater! We enjoyed the outside shower but the bathroom door was very noisy as well as some suspicious stains on the room wall, the room needs a fresh layer of paint ! The pool was a lovely space and there was plenty of sun beds both at the pool and the private area of the beach. The main problem we found at this hotel was the restaurant and fresh water. The included breakfast is poor. My partner and I struggled to get orange juice daily as they were always low on stock ! Maybe think about ordering more of the popular fruits for kids or people with allergies. The restaurant is over priced for the small portions and plain food though I do recommend the fries. A can of fizzy is 25,000 here but the shop next door sells them for 10,000. I would recommend the walk into the harbour of gili air for cheaper and better food. The drinking water refills should be made easily accessble for all guests instead of struggling to get more water. Overal it was nice hotel and pool but expected a lot more for the price.

Great location and great staff. However, do not pay extra for the ocean view room, its the same as the other rooms with no more ocean view. Hotel guests have ocean view from the hotel bar, but not really from their rooms or front patio. Hence, it is a bit misleading on the website that the guest will have an ocean view room with additional payment.

Great hotel shame about the room
This hotel has so much going for it beautiful location, great beach, fantastic bar/ restaurant, lovey staff and a nice pool area however it was our room that was the let down, the light was so dim you couldn't even read in the room, the outdoor bathroom as beautiful as it looked absolutely stank, The air-conditioning was blowing right in our face due to its location and we had to request towels daily as every time our room was cleaned no tales left!

The "open" toilet smelled very bad and when you opened the door of the room the smell came inside the room. The toilets are in an open area and you can hear the neighbours doing their things in the toilet. Location: there is a beach in front of the hotel. However, YOU CANNOT SWIM in this beach in the afternoon as the tide is low and there is coral. In the morning there is coral as well and it is also difficult to swim. If I had to choose another hotel I would go near the port/harbour(southeast) area as the beach is good and there is good snorkelling. Transport from the port: It is about 20 min walk from the harbour. If you decide to take a horse carriage they charge 100,000 rp. We were charged 150,000 and people from the hostel next to us were charged 100,000. So if you take the horse carriage say that you are in that hostel. Breakfast was good. However, the portion was not big. -My room had no safe. -There was no wifi connection in our room. We had to go to the hall to use wifi -The restaurant is good but a bit more expensive than other restaurants in the area. The burger was delicious. The best thing in the hotel were the facilities: the pool was very good and there was live music one night. The music band was very good. The staff was also very good. Overall, I enjoyed my stay but I would not come back for the area (beach) and for the smelly toilet.

My favourite place in Gili!!
Originally planned on staying for two days but loved it so much we booked another night before heading to Gili T (wish we had stayed longer on Gili Air). Location was great with a nice pool and beach with a beachside restaurant which was great (a little more expensive than other restaurants on the island) staff were so helpful and friendly!! Would highly recommend this place to anyone! A big shout out to the young guy who worked in the restaurant and supported Manchester United! Glory glory!

We had booked 2 rooms & stayed for 2 nights,Toilet door broken, shower not strong and hotel should consider to fix hose spray for toilet & supply toothbrush for guest. TV channels are limited & TV lost signal all the time. The place is nice and quiet however due to the hot season its very humid Breakfast is good and they have nice view.

Absolutely loves this place. Rooms were lovely, pool was lovely and sat just back off the beach so had a gorgeous view. All the staff were so friendly and helpful - their scratch bar was absolute perfection! - food was incredible! I want to stay forever!

Great Place!
We stayed at Grand Sunset for 4 nights during our honeymoon in September 2015. My wife was a bit skeptical of the reviews prior to arriving but once we arrived we were very happy with our decision to stay here. From talking to others it sounds like there were significant renovations that were completed 3-4 months ago so the previous reviews are not as relevant now. The rooms are simple but were clean and included lock box, TV, and hot showers. The new restaurant is very nice with extremely good service and great food. Usually we will try a few different places around where we are staying but found ourselves eating at the on site restaurant most of the nights b/c it was so good. Would definitely recommend Grand Sunset to others.

We stayed for 2 nights, and the hotel is new. Grand sunset is the best at the neighbourhood. It is a distance from jetty, we paid IDR 150,000 for transport to the hotel. It is perfect for people who prefer quiet stay.

Nice hotel, bad communication
We had a lot of troubles before we came with the communication.staff couldnt speak english that much and one of the owners was pretty laid back, didnt provide that much help. We had to cancel one night because of the volcanic ash and we have been told by hotels.com we get full refund back for the night as it was a natural disaster - after more than a week we are still waiting for the money back. Hotel was really nice and modern, staff was friendly, even there were some miscommunications. If we come to Gili Air again, we'd like to stay at this hotel, only of they improve these little things.
