Got a room that was supposed to have sea view but we only got the horizon part as the lower view was obscured by another block (but only 2 storey).
Apart from the above, Lone Pine is a superb resort for those who love basking under the shades of tropical trees and pines too, has well maintained and clean facilities, enjoying the serenity of Batu Ferringhi. Food (breakfast) and drinks were very good too. The play room has large TV screen and we actually stayed up till 1am to watch Champions' League...
We loved this resort and definitely would be back again!!

Hotel is Beautiful. But the people managing it is bad.
The room was spacious & clean, although in my opion it will need some upgrading in the not too distant future. The sea view rooms should be re-classified as partial sea view, due to the amount of trees blocking it. There is 1 particularly large tree that overhangs the pool, possible attention to the branches, before they crack in a storm & hurt someone. There is serious erosion outside the grounds of this hotel, making it almost impossible to walk along the beach here, plus the sea is extremely polluted. The pool is a good size & clean, but there are not enough loungers, plus the cushions could do with a good scrub, pool towels were available. Outside & along the street there are numerous places to eat & at night it is lined with a market, food is very cheap, alcohol not so, however, you can easily get a meal for 2 with a drink for well under £15, we don't eat much & were paying approximately £9 including beer.
The staff were lovely & helpful nothing too much trouble. A bus stop is just next door for a trip to Georgetown costing about 6+ myr but they don't give change.
Really nice hotel, very well situated. Staff was superfriendly, breakfast fantastic. Only disapointment was the gym where two out of four machines didn’t work during our stay. One was fixed and the it didn’t work again, so a little bit disapointing. But apart from that great hotel.
Limited breakfast menu / room service / bar menu. no hotel dining venue. Limited drinks options

Vierailimme hotellista toista kertaa. Aikaisempi vierailu oli 2014. Vaikka omistaja vaihtunut oli tunnelma hotellissa edelleen samanlainen. Miellyttävä rauhallinen ja tunnelmallinen siirtomaatyylinen hotelli rannalla. Kaunis puutarha. Huone todella siisti ja tilava. Suihku ja sänky saivat eityiskiitokset. Henkilökunta ystavallistä. Aamupala oikein hyvä kananmunapaistopisteineen. Menisimme uudelleen
The room utilities like fan or shower faucet under maintenance. Water temperature unstable and the sliding door to balcony seems half broken. Toiletries like body wash was empty upon checkin, nice view but the balcony chair and tables have visible stains have v
Lovely hotel, not the cheapest or the one with the best restaurant options but what they offer os a uniwue high service friendly vibe we will definitely return to.
OMG one of the best hotel we ever stayed in . We have been to over 30 counties and I can say that Lone Pine would be in our top 5 . All the staff and I mean all the staff always had a smile for me and my second wife . I just wish we could have stayed longer than 6 nights . I am really really going miss this hotel and I know we will be back sooner than later . Again thank you so much to all at the Lone Pine . Stay safe and well and we shall see each other again .
After several years, I finally decided to come to The Lone Pine Hotel again for our family summer trip.
The concierge had changed to an atrium in the middle of the building. And the old entrance had changed to the coffee corner. It looked like a co-workers space. After I entered the room had changed in a small mirror in the corner and the big logo on the wall.
We woke up in the morning and we walked to the Bangalow restaurant for breakfast. The first looked at the difference between Asian and Western styles. There were specially made dim sum, congee and soup noodles and they had only two dishes of laksa sourced from Malaysian food. Some tables could be seated outdoors with a sand floor. Even though the rainy day could be felt beach.
Finally, it was a great relaxed place in Penang.
Charming mid-size hotel exuding colonial architectural character. The hotel feels like coming home with the calm ambience. The hotel was excellent all round and nicely located on BTU Ferrenghi. Small touches like balcony bathtub were nice surprise. I would say that some parts of my room need minor maintenance (better cleaning of limescale and one of the sink taps wasn’t working). I would definitely come back to this property for another relaxing stay. Thank you.
Excellent service!! They catered to all my special requests. Food is delish and reasonably priced! And the hotel rooms are a lovely colonial charm! However the beach infront hotel is not a private beach.
Love this hotel. Beautiful pool area and very friendly staffs. We loved our dinner at the on-site restaurant and delicious breakfast buffer too! Highly recommend this hotel for a very relaxing stay!

Tale of two halves
There were great things about the hotel so I’ll focus on the two things that really meant something to us but the hotel fell short on these: some gym equipment were out of order and we really wanted to use them. There was no draught beer until our last night !! They had bottled beer. Would’ve been nice to chill out with some beers on tap in the late afternoons.
We also thought that the hotel was advertised as a kid-free resort which was quite an important point for us but there children around although they were mostly well-behaved (so phew !!).
There were a couple of young Instagram posers setting up their shots but they were mostly just cringey to watch so that was quite fun.
Other than that, the pool, breakfasts and rooms were really ace. The hotel staff were all really nice and polite.
This is a super place to come and unwind - we have stayed here on a number of occasions. Everyone v helpful. Food is good in the hotel and also restaurants and food court an easy walk. Recommended.
