We didn't know there was a 7 PM deadline for check-in. Unfortunately, the day of our arrival there was a huge windstorm / thunderstorm which made it impossible to drive a car for a couple of hours. Once the storm subsided, the main road from our location to the hotel to be unpassable due to trees being uprooted. When we got to the hotel, the key had been left with the employees at the bistro, but they didn't tell us where the rooms were. After wandering around the property for awhile we finally figured it out. The rooms were fine but musty. We wouldn't stay there again.

Dear Guestthe check in hours (we don't have Reception 24h/24h) are indicated in the page of the Hotel on the website when You book You should see that or normally before going in a Hotel the guest should verify check in hours and other info. The check in was late for weather reasons and we kindly left the room keys at the collegues of the Bistro, so it was a good thing from us. Our collegues made You a quickly check in and the rooms were at the first floor reachable by stair or lift that You see immediately in the Reception or the staff was available there to show You where to go another time. We don't have musty in our rooms, as you can see in many reviews we take care very much at cleaning of the rooms. Nobody said something like this of our rooms.

Perfect place for both business or pleasure
This is a beautiful hotel in traditional Italian architecture next to a castle in the middle of Italy. I was there a night on a short business trip. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is spacious. Would definitely recommend

Nice but dated and uncomfortable rooms.
This is a very cool place... beautiful to look at, good food and decent service. Room was very dated and worn out... not shabby shrek worn out, like 1980's ugly and worn out. Bed was terrible, like a rock.worth a visit but not worth staying in the room I slept in, maybe other rooms are better...

Very nice ancient building in the country
In mid Winter it was quiet and the main restaurant was closed but it is a beautiful building and lovely surroundings. The very enthusiastic receptionist was helpful and charming and made us feel very welcome

Lovely character hotel
Lovely comfortable hotel in a small commune. Great restaurant just around the corner with good food and a warm welcome.

Love location. Service could improve.
Castello di Rivalta is one of my favorite destinations. It is beautiful, elegant, and peaceful. The hotel is a wonderful place to stay. While the staff is competent, they are not overly friendly or helpful. The bar service in particular is slow and inattentive. The location is so pretty that they have a captive audience and they know it. With better service I would rate as 5 stars.

Neat idea but not all it's cracked up to be.....
We had a difficulty finding the hotel because the reservation said Gazzola and it is actually in Rivalta. Lovely room and furnishing, large bathroom and plenty of room to move around. couldn't use the little balcony or leave the window open as there were many mosquitoes. There are two restaurants and one café. The Café is open a lot but two restaurants were hard to access... filled or not open, or holding a private party. The trouble is there are no "ristorantes" anywhere close by. The internet touts it is a small village, but the village stores and castle were closed for all the 4 days we were there. I would suggest they give a little tour of the grounds so that guests can get a feel for the town.. We had hoped to tour the castle. NOPE!

Lovely, quiet, historic setting. Interesting castle tour (even if you can't understand Italian, but they have it in English if you reserve ahead). Great service. Great food (Antica Locanda del Falco). Very minor complaints: Flood light shining into our room (but curtains blocked OK). No food at 6am when we had to leave.

Peaceful and Relaxing
Ideal location if you want to relax after a day trip to any of the local Italian cities. We drove & spent the day in Milan on one of the days & drove to Lake Como another day. It was beautiful to come back to a peaceful setting after a tiring time in the city.

A perfect experience into the past.
We got very lost and arrived late. The staff were very accommodating and we had a 5-star dinner on the property that made all is well. The room was lovely, the grounds were gorgeous, and we recommend this place highly, if you can find it!

A poor experience in a nice looking hotel
Instead of the reserved "Standard Double Room" I got a tiny attic room where I could not stand! The room is only good for kids under 10 and dogs. The room did not even have a room number. Selling it as a standard room is simply a fraud. On top of it we had to carry the luggage on long, dark, slippery stairs, in the rain, because the hotel could not open the gate for us! The price was good but I would have never reserved it had I known the type of the room. The hotel offered us a free night that we refused to take.

Thank You for your review that gives us the oppurtunity to clarify that the Standard Double Room You booked is an attic room of 20-25 square metres, with moquette, wallpaper, with french bed (a smaller bed) and bathroom with shower. So it is the corrispondence of what You booked. Instead We are sorry for the gate, it was a misunderstanding or there was some technical problems because We always can ope the gate with a remote control. We hope one day to have the opportunity to show You all beautiful aspects of our Hotel and location maybe in another room tipology, bigger than the other room. Residenza Torre di San Martino

A little haven
Easy to find , a little gem in the countryside but near Piacenza , the welcome and service was impeccable, very friendly and helpful . The food and wines were of great quality and wide choice . I highly recommend this haven and will visit it again I hope . We took the train to Milano from Piacenza , worth the trip , only 50 minutes . The tour of the Castle was very interesting and informative.

We stayed at this hotel for a few days. It's beautifully situated in the countryside and next to a wonderful castle with a great tour - only in Italian though; we were welcomed gracefully by the attentive front desk staff and our every need attended to: BUT, while the bathroom was scrubbed and wonderfully clean, there were cobwebs, spiderwebs, large dust balls all over the bedroom. I love the old "castle feel", but the spiders and cobwebs have to go. The breakfast was minimal but very tasty. Nonetheless, it's a very very cool and romantic place to visit and you have that moment to feel "royal" within the castle gates.

Purtroppo le varie volte che è stato Ospite non ha mai fatto presente alcuna problematica alla Reception che ci avrebbe permesso di affrontarla e risolverla al meglio viste anche le varie esperienze positive dirette e su altri siti riguardo i materassi della nostra struttura e la qualità del sonno. Una notte a Rivalta
Hotel in una location molto suggestiva. Perfetto per una notte con una buona colazione. Non era molto chiaro che bisognasse parcheggiare all'esterno, ma a poca distanza dalla struttura.. arrivando di sera e con la pioggia non è stato facile, ma poi abbiamo visto che la distanza era veramente minima. Posto consigliato

Il posto incantevole. Il personale gentilissimo e pronto ad accontentare i nostri desideri. Abbiamo trovato una sola cosa, molto importante per noi è per qualsiasi turista che vuole confort, l’aria condizionata non funzionava bene nella prima camera che ci avevano dato. Nella seconda funzionava meglio ma con le temperature che abbiamo trovato in quei giorni non era efficace. Penso che erano apparecchi vecchi o che mancavano di manutenzione.

Le posso garantire che il condizionatore era accesso dalle 8 del mattino ma purtroppo la camera grande e le temperature anomale di 40/45 gradi registrate nei giorni scorsi non aiutano il funzionamento di tali macchinari che lavorano comunque incessantemente e sono soggetti a frequente manutenzione da parte dei tecnici incaricati. A seguito Vs segnalazione che la camera non fosse abbastanza fresca il personale pensando di fare cosa gradita ha immediatamente proposto cambio camera in camera solitamente più fresca per la posizione. Ci auguriamo di riaverVi nostri Ospiti alla prossima occasione. Hotel Torre di San Martino

Posto bellissimo e personale molto cortese e disponibile, il borgo è mozzafiato e potrebbe in parte giustificare il prezzo delle camere che tutto sommato pare un po' eccessivo...l'unica vera pecca è il dover attraversare il cortile per consumare la colazione sopratutto in questo periodo.

Esperienza positiva, sia in fase di contatti telefonici sia di persona. Personale disponibile, cordiale e location fantastica. Manca una zona living dove accomodarsi (eravamo in 12), ma il personale del bistrot si è subito dato da fare per farci accomodare. I bagni sono molto spaziosi, nuovi e con tutto il necessario. Mmancava la connessione internet nella dependance probabilmente per la pioggia. Lo consiglio sicuramente per una notte!

l’hôtelet l'hotel. Chambres dans plusieurs batiments du Chateau de Rivalta est merveilleusement situé dans la vallée de Trebbia. L’hôtel est à l'intérieur des murs du château où se trouve le village avec ses maisons particulières , ses quelques échoppes , la chapelle .Les chambres sont dans plusieurs batiments : comfortables, belles salle de bains .plusieurs restaurants à disposition
