We (my daughter & I - mother/daughter trip) arrived in Amalfi after taking a train, cab and two ferries. We then boarded a bus that took us up to our hotel. We missed our stop and were fortunate to meet a man who spoke English. He called our hotel and within minutes, Pino, the owner of the hotel, picked us up and brought us to his beautiful hotel. We were greeted by his wonderful staff. We did have to go down a few flights of stairs, but I enjoyed the exercise. There may be rooms that avoid steps, but I didn't ask. When we got to our room, we went out on a small terrace that overlooked the ocean. Words cannot adequately describe the beauty. That evening we dined in Pino's outdoor restaurant (there is also an indoor restaurant). Across from the restaurant was a view of another cliff with street lights that lit up the rock formations. Both my daughter and I agreed that the food was the best we had ever had and I grew up in NYC having gone to excellent Italian restaurants. We ate at Pino's both nights of our stay. The next morning we were served a delicious breakfast (included) and since we did not have a car, Pino drove us to a bus location that is closer to the town. The day we were leaving, we felt that we didn't have time for breakfast since we had to catch a ferry, but Pino insisted that we eat and that he could get us to the bus on time, which he did! In just two days, we felt like Pino and his staff were old friends, even like family!
