"The location is very good as you can walk to the station in a few minutes. They also have a multi-level parking, which is very convenient for those who drive. The room is clear and comfortable. And I appreciate their free breakfast in particular! The food tastes good and it can't be complained."

"This is the third Hoshino Resort experience. Expectation was there given the price point this chain is charging compared to other chains. Hoshino always attempts to impress with its settings, however, the garden pool does not show as advertised this time (not certain if they only have the floating lanterns or what during certain season). Regardless, staff are polite and courteous and I found that this time has a major improvement over the cleaning staff (although the property is a bit aged but still managed to keep the condition inside our room). Condensation is a concern in air-conditioned building across Japan, so maintenance staff needs to really check the top floor (where we stayed) for mould build-up by the elevator."

"We drove from Shin Aomori Station on Japanโs meticulously maintained highway system to arrive at the Hotel Yutoria in about three hours including numerous breaks along the way. The hotel is located in a postcard like setting in Fujisato, Akita Ken. Without doubt the hotel is on the older side but this did nit have any bearing on our stay. From arrival to departure (two nights) the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was excellent and a wonderful reprieve from the tiny rooms we have been staying at while sticking to our travel budget. Besides the large traditional tatami room the hotel has an excellent onsen located on site. Both the breakfast and dinners were very well prepared and presented. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and felt we received excellent value for the cost. We will visit this area again in the fall and enjoy hiking in the mountains when the autumn colours are on full display. Finally, just a short walk from the hotel is the UNESCO designated Shirakami Sanchi forest interpretation centre. When staying at the hotel Yutoria you are in this beautiful area. I would recommend visitors give this area a try as a change from or in addition to Tokyo, Kyoto and so on. The area is also accessible by air to the nearby Noshiro airport."

"We had a wonderful stay at Ishiba Ryokan. The owner, a ninth-generation descendant of a samurai family, shared fascinating stories that brought the ryokanโs rich history to life. As a designated cultural heritage property, it truly feels like stepping back in time. The location is ideal, just a short distance from the famous castle, and the atmosphere is calm, understated, and deeply tranquil. The owner speaks excellent English and was incredibly welcoming and engaging to talk with. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning."
