Pretty hotel, bad management
I arrived and was told there’s a problem with my room (they gave it away). I was put in a room in someone’s house outside the hotel. The manager was downright nasty. The next night I was moved into a room where the bathroom walls were covered in mold. Many of the other guests complained about this. There are no toiletries, hair dryer, etc as advertised. And I did not get the room shown in the pictures. The staff are just lovely and try to compensate but property is terribly managed. I am shocked at the ratings. I’ve been traveling for 3 months through Africa and have never had a bad experience like this. I tried to upload pics but they are too large. Happy to send on request.

The staff were always inviting and offered tea at every opportunity. The dinner was delicious and super affordable. Helpful and organised guides and transport to the airports.

Mal hat man Glück, mal hat man Pech
Die Bilder, die man im Internet vom Palais Walid sieht, entsprechen nur bedingt der Realität. Zum Palais Walid gehören nämlich insgesamt 5 verschiedene Häuser, die alle in Größe, Einrichtung und Komfort maximal variieren. Es ist im Prinzip egal, was man für eine der angegebenen Zimmer-Kategorien wählt. Man bekommt vor Ort per Zufall das Zimmer, welches halt frei ist. Wir sind daher für die ersten beiden Nächte - weil die Zimmer voll waren - bei einer privaten Familie untergekommen, die ein wirklich schönes und großes Zimmer für uns parat gemacht hatten. Da hatten wir wohl Glück... Denn in der dritten Nacht mussten wir abrupt das Zimmer wechseln und sind in einen der anderen Riads gekommen. Dieses war unfassbar enttäuschend. Klein, komplett dreckig und das Bad war KOMPLETT verschimmelt. Das Bett leider voller Bettwanzen und die Lacken wurden definitiv nicht gewechselt. Da hatten wir wohl Pech... Die Jungs, die die 5 Palais Walid zugehörigen Unterkünfte leiten, sind nett, aber ich kann wirklich abraten, hier zu buchen. Man weiß einfach nicht, wo man landet. Roussisches Roulette quasi.

Süßes Hotel von einer gastfreundlichen Familie betrieben, tolle Dachterrasse mit super Blick, nur ein kurzer Fußweg und man ist mitten im Geschehen, sehr zu empfehlen!

Zentrales Gästehaus mit viel viel Herz und Liebe
In Marokko ist alles irgendwie anders, für uns verzaubert, für andere vielleicht etwas befremdlich. Generell muss man sagen, dass man sich "ein wenig locker" machen muss. Stress und Ungeduld sollte man zu Hause lassen. Das Gästehaus liegt mitten in der Medina, in Bali de Fes. Alles, was wir gesucht haben, ob Restaurant oder Sehenswürdigkeit, war maximal 650m entfernt. Bei der Ankunft haben wir die Eingangstür erst nicht erkannt- es gibt kein Schild. Hier muss man auf jeden Fall fragen! Die Gastgeber sind sehr sehr herzlich. Man merkt, dass sie sehr stolz auf ihr Haus und ihre Stadt sind. Alles ist sehr unkompliziert und entspannt und deshalb für Europäer etwas ungewohnt. Es gibt zum Beispiel keine Frühstückszeiten. Wenn man aufsteht geht man nach unten und bekommt etwas zu essen. Ganz einfach. Als wir ankamen hatte kein Restaurant geöffnet, und wir waren hungrig, also haben wir ein kostenloses Frühstück bekommen. Das war wirklich toll! Auf dem Dach gibt es eine tolle, gemütliche Dachterrasse mit einem absolut umwerfenden Blick über die Altstadt. Unser Zimmer lag mit direktem Zugang zur Dachterrasse im obersten Stockwerk. Nachts haben wir die Zimmertür ein Stück offen gelassen und konnten die frische Luft genießen. Wirklich traumhaft. Wir haben uns zu jedem Zeitpunkt sehr sehr wohl gefühlt. Zu jeder Gelegenheit gab es eine Kanne frischen Minztee, auch abends oder früh morgens. Der Besitzer war sehr freundlich und ist uns sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit

Great view and helpful host
Our stay was really great. The view from the roof terrace was simply stunning and the room was simply but good. It was clean and big enough for two persons. Mahir was a fantastic host. He was very friendly and helpful. Whenever we had a question, Mahir was available. All in all it was a nice stay with an excellent host. Great job Mahir!

Palais Walid: eine echte Schande
Message: Wir hatten für heute und bis zum 5. April eine Reservation im Palais Walid gemacht, 2 Zimmer (Doppel+Single). Wir sind dort jetzt angekommen und wollten das Geld zuerst. Ich habe es komisch gefunden und habe antwortet, dass wir am Donnerstag bezahlen würden. Dann hat der Besitzer uns gesagt, er habe ein anderes Hotel, nicht weit. Nach 30mn Laufen waren wir in ein anderes Hotel. Es war kein Riad mehr sondern ein Hostel, Dar El Balia. Dann hat man uns gesagt, dass es ein Problem mit unserer Reservierung gibt: es gibt keine Zimmer frei. Sie wollten uns ins Keller zu schlaffen, ich habe antwortet auf keinen Fall. Ich bin total Wüttend. Jetzt müssen wir fast 200€ bezahlen in einem Hotel, das noch frei Zimmer hat. Ich werde mit Expedia nie wieder reservieren. Eine Schande.
