"Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

"We had a pleasant stay overall. The house was clean and tidy, with a good heating system that kept the place comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with enough utensils for cooking, which was very convenient. We also really enjoyed the Jacuzzi during our stay. "Room was clean, but noisy. We noticed a humming sound. This prevented us from having a good nights sleep as it was constant during the night. We complained and moved room for our second night. The day we arrived we were hiking and our clothes were soaking wet. It was a cold evening and we complained the following morning as there was no heating and were unable to dry our clothes. We were cold in bed and there were no extra blankets. We complained and were told the hotels heating system was turned off. Breakfast was adequate, although I had the smallest hash brown ever (only one) Didn’t receive any the following day. Parking was poor. Don’t think I would stay here again considering the cost of the stay."

"Very welcoming reception, lovely staff. Room very clean and all essentials there. Hotel itself clean, spaces, lovely surroundings. Breakfast was good, buffet with typical English breakfast, also healthy breakfast available, toaster and white/brown bread, no rolls. Maybe not for some, but Important for me, not variety of morning coffee (disappointing) just instant coffee + milk. In the evening restaurant serves a great meals, drinks and variety of coffee! That means the proper coffee machine is in the kitchen but not using for breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall highly recommended I would stay there again."

" Very welcoming staff and pleasant hotel with beautiful surroundings. Elements restaurant is classy with a good menu. The Spa area is clean and the option to use the outdoor hydro pool is an added bonus (additional £20 pp for 2 hours) but on a sunny day is worth it. Parking is short walk away, but this is not an issue. "
