"Clean, but the carpets in the public areas need replacing. This really undermined the quality feel of the hotel. One of the receptionists deliberately misled me about the room she allocated to me, but the other (the Hispanic looking woman) was very helpful and sorted out the problem by giving me a different room. I booked a room with a double bed and checked with the first receptionist that my room did have a double bed. She confirmed, but it had two singles! I cannot understand what was going on. Was she so lazy she couldn’t be bothered to hit some keyboard keys? This happened Sunday 24th May going into Monday 25th 2026; if management are interested"

"Perfectly adequate for a 1 night stop. Location was good, right in the centre. We arrived about 4.30pm and there were only 2 parking spaces left. Room was good, clean and spacious. Not a fan of shower curtains over a bath, would prefer a screen. Our main gripe was this is a Marston's Inn, a company renowned for it's real ale. We were going to eat in the restaurant around 7.30 on a Friday night but were told that there was no ale on at the pumps, only lager. Not even a decent bottled beer either! Did that mean they would have no ale on all weekend? Not good enough Marstons! We did have a cooked breakfast the following morning which was good but had to wait a good 20 minutes for this and there weren't that many people having breakfast. Overall a perfectly good place to stay in Exeter."
