What a difference a room makes. Five years ago we stayed at the front overlooking La Rambla and loved this hotel. This time we mistakenly booked a patio room and felt like we were staying somewhere else entirely. The “patio” overlooks the backs of surrounding buildings, with full views of people’s patios and laundry, plus loud construction and workers able to look directly into our room. We emailed in advance asking to change rooms but received no reply.
The bed is comfortable and the shower good, but beyond your room there really isn’t much to the hotel. The hallway carpet is permanently stained and needs replacing, and the rooftop is basic and disappointing.
Definitely book the front side—the experience is vastly different. And a final tip: coffee was free five years ago; now it’s €2 per pod, which frankly feels cheap. Bring your own coffee pods!
