When staying at a historic inn or hotel, I want to see some history. My husband and I enjoyed reading the old news clippings and historic details on the walls. The room, furnished with antiques, was very clean; nothing was sticky and the only noticeable dust was on the TV stand. Breakfast was in a pretty dining room. They accommodated our toddler by giving her cushions to sit on, milk in a child-sized cup, and a straw.

The gentleman who owns this Inn is very delightful. This is an inn that had bathrooms added. This sink is in the main bedroom. Breakfast was fine, not my taste but the hostess set a nice table. Everything is clean but somewhat dated. I would stay again if we visited again.

I am responding to the review by the person who goes by James Layfayette. No guest has stayed at our Inn this year by the name James Lafayette. I found that some shower curtains are showing signs of wear at the bottom. I am replacing them with new shower curtains at this time. Mr. Layfayette is the first person in all of our years that has ever complained about our 20” TV’s with programming provided by DISH. The modem for our WiFi provided by Verizon is centrally located. If our guests in the rooms that are on the other side of the two foot thick stone wall from the modem, have a problem, we tell them to use our second floor Parlor, which is directly above the modem. We are proud of our floors. We have refurbished by hand the original oak floors on the first floor and original pine floors on the second floor. Our Inn was built in 1834 and “remodeled” in 1860. We provide a padded rocking chair, a straight chair and card table in each of four rooms, and a padded straight lounge chair and card table in each of two rooms. I have mentioned our second floor Parlor in which we have several more chairs. We ask our prospective guest to visit Ebensburg, PA. Check under lodging to see several photos of our Inn.
My wife and i stayed here after our wedding and returned 25 years later in 2024 for our anniversary. Enjoyed the nostalgia. Antiques. 100 year books in hallway. Old fasion and historical. Nice breakfast. Talked with Lou the owner. Very personable and friendly. If you value the character of how people and things were, you will like this place. Town is nice with more dining and shopping within 3 miles. You will like Hoss's and Kostas restaurants. Also Meadows frozen custaed. Walmart and major fast food also available.
God Bless

Nice place to stay if you want that 1830’s feel and to avoid the box-chain hotels. Breakfast was nice although seating times and choices were limited. Each room has 1 bed. Right in downtown area, easy to park, I’d stay there again.

The Building is a beautiful pre civil war home it had a lot of nice features of old architecture.
The fact that the back door needs replaced and is not secured at night was not favorable to me or my sisters who rented rooms for the weekend.
No modern smoke alarms no exit lighting no fire suppression.
The rooms and bathrooms were very clean

Bart,Thank you for giving us a 4.0 Good rating in your review. We take pride on our cleanliness and special breakfasts. We know the South outside door from our parking lot needs repairing or replacing. We have been working on this problem. We lock up and secure the Inn when we retire at 9:00 p.m. We tell our guests when they register how to get in and out after 9:00 p.m. We also tell our guests about the EXIT sign above the panic bar equipped door opening to the rear stairs. We have an EXIT sign with an arrow for the guests in the front of the second floor, and an EXIT sign over the panic bar equipped door to the rear stairs. We have an EXIT sign and arrow near the outside door.We have an integrated smoke and heat alarm system in all public areas. We have battery operated smoke alarms in all guest rooms. After we received your review, we checked the smoke alarms in the rooms you and your sisters occupied to make certain they were operable. We found they were working properly. We leave the lights on all of the time in both the front and rear halls and in the stairway leading to the door equipped with a panic bar to the parking lot. We leave the exterior lights on all of the time from High Street to our parking lot. Our parking lot is lighted by the Borough of Ebensburg when it is dark. We have an emergency lighting system in the event of a power outage. We have an automatic fire suppression system in the kitchen. We have fire extinguishers in the kitchen and on all floors. All of these safety items were designed by our Architect and approved by the Department of Labor and Industry, who issued us our Certificate of Occupancy.Thank you for giving us the opportunity to explain our safety features in this Response. We invite you to stay with us again.Jeannette and Lew Ripley, InnkeepersThe Noon-Collins Inn
Excellent breakfast, interesting historic property. Not easily accessible for those with limited mobility. Main (back) entrance door needs to be repaired.

I've stayed here about half a dozen times, mainly for work because it is a 5 minute or less walk from Cambria County Courthouse. Rooms are comfy, breakfast delicious and owners/staff friendly. There are many interesting attractions nearby including: Ghost Town rail-trail, Johnstown Flood Museum, USPS Portage Railroad site, Railroad Museum (Altoona) and Altoona Curve AA Baseball. Some decent restaurants in Ebensburg.

Decent overall. Excellent breakfast. The big downside was that the window air conditioner in the room is very old and ready to be replaced... it wasn't working well during our stay.
We enjoyed our stay, room was comfortable, and we loved the period furniture. The food was amazing at breakfast. Quiche, croissant, and fresh fruit 1 day, and banana stuffed french bread, bacon and fresh fruit the other. The back door needs replaced, but that didn't affect our stay. Truly a great find for us.

Kimberli, We very strongly disagree that our Inn needs updated and de-cluttered. Our U-Tube video is online for our guests to see. We very carefully restored and created our Inn by furnishing it with antiques and collectables. Many of our guests have told us how very comfortable they feel in our Inn. They say that they feel like they are visiting their grandparents' home.WPSX3, Penn State Television, gave us a Great American Design Award. The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Bureau for Historic Preservation, awarded us a Certificate of Merit. Our Inn has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. You did not leave after one night, but stayed for a second night. You also did not stay for Jeanette's wonderful breakfast both mornings.Lewis H. Ripley, Innkeeeper
Second time staying with hosts, Jeanette and Lew. It was nice to see their smiles when checking in. The Noon-Collins Inn is a historic building with decor to match. It is clean, comfortable and feels like we are visiting family. We did not stay for breakfast this stay, but the last stay we did and it was fabulous. Jeanette and Lew are welcoming and take pride in the service they provide. Plenty of restaurants, shops, and a convenience store within walking distance. Much better than staying at a chain hotel. Plus, it is always good to support local. 🙂

Thank you for giving us a 3 out of 5 rating and found breakfast was very good and your room and dining room clean. Another guest gave our decor a 5 out of 5 and called it eclectic. We are working on repairs, such as our outside parking lot door, as the pricing of contractors will permit.
