Very hospitable, very good value and a brilliant stay, loved it! We had to do some work the next day and they let us use their bar. Helpful with parking and directions also.

Pleasant staff, comfortable room, good temperature and quiet. I was surprised I couldn't leave my luggage prior to check-in as the luggage room was full, but this didn't cause me too much angst. Would recommend and stay again if in Alkmaar

Cannot think of one flaw and I've stayed at hotels all over the world. Beautiful hotel in a stunning location, only to be matched by the warmth of the hotel staff and the character of the rooms. I was going to stay in an AirBnb (I try to avoid chain hotels) but watched the movie "In Bruges" and saw a great deal on Expedia. It ended up being a brilliant decision. Fabulous place to stay. We were in the newer part of the hotel -- possibly a new building, or a refurbished old one -- but it had been thoughtfully designed and beautifully put together. The walkway to get there went outside, and was only partially covered -- so you might get wet in the rain, although I noticed a stack of umbrellas at reception! Everything else was amazing. This was a special treat for my 50th birthday. We were treated like royalty from the minute we walked through the door. The breakfast catered for every persons needs; there was even Champagne for a special occassion. We drove to Brugge from Canterbury. We used the sat nav to find our hotel. Unfortunately, there were roadworks on the street leading to the hotel. Booked this hotel as a reasonably priced base for our city break of Rotterdam, and couldn't believe our luck. Lovely hotel out of the centre but an easy walk/metro/tram to all of the main parts. Lots of character in the room and modern fittings throughout. Staff very friendly too, always on hand to help. Would highly recommend.
