This is a stunning 5* property that has genuinely not lost any of its sparkle since I first stayed there in February 2015.
The accommodations and public areas are all grand and spacious, and the views from the bedrooms (floors 24 to 46) are impressive, particularly on the highest floors. Little touches in the bedrooms, like automated curtains, daily changing of bed linen and towels, rainfall showers and evening turndown service contribute to the 5* service.
There's a wide range of restaurants and bars on site. The 24th floor Executive Lounge offers a varied range of breakfast items (6.30-11am), Afternoon Tea (1-3pm) and an evening Happy Hour. 5-6pm is "family hour", aimed at those with younger children, then from 6-8pm, kids under 10 years old are asked to leave, while alcoholic beverages are also served.
"Bliss 6" is an amazing outdoor swimming pool and bar, offering the convenience of all-day sunbathing without needing to travel to a beach. There's also a spa offering a free jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, as well as a range of paid-for treatments and there's also a well-equipped 24-hour gym.
Despite it being Ramadan, there was little or no appreciable difference in service or operation of hotel facilities compared with previous stays.
The Dubai Metro has a stop literally outside the front door of the hotel, so it is relatively straightforward to get around to the key tourist sites, but there's usually a plentiful supply of taxis for those harder-to-reach places.
