"Really good location - do easy to walk such short distance into the town. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. The room was pretty good though I felt the shower arrangement was a bit dated- I would be looking for a walk-in shower, if they have them. Quite happy to stay there again."

Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel & Spa

"We stayed in mid July. The hotel has a nice vibe but is looking a little bit tired in places and in need of a bit of a spruce. The rooms were incredibly hot. a fan was supplied but it was pretty ineffective. I hate to think what it would have been like during the height of the heatwave when temperatures were 10 degrees hotter. Hotel is well located for the centre of town with everything within a short walking distance. Didn't eat at the restaurant but did use the bar. Staff friendly."

"Great hotel great location everything in walking distance. Staff very friendly and helpful couldn't fault them at all! Biggest disappointment was there was no lift, I had a a 16month old and had to carry buggy up stairs to second floor. When I booked I wasn't made aware there was no lift. I managed, many of the staff offered many times to help carry buggy upstairs for us. I recommend this hotel."

"Such a lovely location, hotel & grounds are beautiful. We stayed 2 nights, had incredible spa treatments, chilled by the pool & enjoyed dinner both evenings in Stuart restaurant. All staff were welcoming & friendly Breakfast is self service & has all the usual on offer. Quite reasonable at £16 each. Our room only rate of £200 per night was good value but be aware our final bill was over £1000. We did enjoy the cocktails & wine list though 😀"

"Fabulous and historic property with interesting architecture. Like all stately home type properties some of the decor is difficult to maintain to a high standard, so there are minor signs of wear here and there and no aircon. The food, staff and service are very good, breakfast was of high quality. We didnt try the spa but seemed to be appreciated by those on a spa package. The grounds and garden were fabulous ,especially the view from the outside patios. Overall highly rated and most enjoyable."
