We always stay at Hawthorne because we’re close to family in the area. The property itself has changed. Since ownership has changed hands. I have noticed some rooms are damaged. Curtains hanging off the rods, the toilets are stained, the carpet is loose. These are things that maintenance should be checking everyday. The breakfast choice is different every time we visit, which is nice. It’s like somethings been added. We don’t visit often but when we there always something different about the property.

The staff was excellent, if not for them the stay would have been terrible. The carpet in the room was stained and had a musty smell. The condition of the room was not the fault of the staff. Like I said the carpet smell and so badly stained.

The staff were all friendly, and the breakfast was very nice. We also appreciated the extra sheets we were given to use the sleep-out couch. The four stars for the facilities only relate to the somewhat worn carpet - everything else was clean and looked nice. The area around the hotel feels very safe - the four stars are given because the access from the road is a little hard to find at first (through a small complex with a restaurant and movie theater).

It definitely needs some updating. My room had a 70s vibe to it. The mattresses were stained. Just felt creepy.

Nice place, the room was nice, good breakfast. Only complaint was a smoke alarm went off at 3:00am in our room for no reason and scared the crap out of us. We will stay here again if ever visit Decatur again.

My daughter and I always choose this property it close to family, restaurants, shopping and it’s quiet at night. We have never had any issues with the staff here. Very awesome individuals. It was great to see that the side doors were locked, however we could not use our key cards to get in.

Room was filthy, sheets were dirty, phone didn't work, smoke alarm handing off wall, window screen ripped half off & hanging down, carpet was all stained, couch was stained & had holes in it. Will never stay there again & will be calling corporate. I took pictures of everything.

I have stayed in this hotel for around 15 days with expedia, 15 days with other platform, and not once room service change the bedsheets or towels. Reception guys were very helpful but Manager was very rude. I will not recommend anyone

Disgusting hotel.
Was first put in a room that the tv didnt work..moved to another room the security lock was broken off and the room was dirty..went to flush toilet it was clogged. Tried to get plunger from desk..said didnt have one had to go down 3 floors to use restroom when the need was there. The carpet was totally dirty and stains on mattress and curtains.

Booked the queen suite. It was dirty, one side of the drive didn’t work, the hot water in the shower was like warm, the shower head squealed while it was running. The filter in the heat/ac was coated with dust, the curtains were torn and had holes, the window sills were coming apart, the staff vacuumed the hallways after 11p at night. When I checked in I asked several times to not charge my card, I was paying cash upon check out. I was told there would be a $25 deposit hold. I asked again to make sure it wasn’t not the full amount and was reassured only $25. I went to order food later and come to find out my account was overdrawn almost $200 because not only was I charged the $25 fee it was charged with the room price totaling 163 something TWICE. I spoke with a manager and she said oh he’s new and there would have been a $200 deposit to pay cash… yeah… and? But I did receive very unsympathetic sorry that my now over drafted account will be okay in 5-10days. Upon finding out that the shower squealed very annoyingly while on and that the water is luke warm I asked to switch rooms and the guy did not understand what no hot water meant and kept telling me to turn the handle up….. but he’d switch my room in the morning. I’m checking out in the morning. Just got stared at like I was dumb… so not recommended this place what so ever

Had a problem with the TV remote, the power button wasn't working. All other buttons worked on it, just not the power button. Turned it on in the back of the TV, then we were good. Bedside lamp had a burned out bulb. Everything else was good, as usual.

We had a nice stay. Room was spacious and clean. Carpet is starting to show signs of aging and some stains. We had family joining us with a stay. They arrived at noon and unable to check in early in a nearly empty hotel. Kinda disappointed in that.
