Das Himmelbett-Zimmer war himmlisch

Der Kurzaufenthalt in Daun war sehr schön. Von Daun haben wir nicht viel gesehen, aber die Landschaft und die Erdgeschichte rundum ist eine Reise wert. Auch der Besuch der Glockengiesserei in Brockscheid war interessant.

Lovely hotel in a very scenic location

Staff very helpful. Comfortable and clean rooms. Lovely dining room with a good breakfast selection. Good restaurant for dinner. Also has a pool and spa which I unfortunately did not have time to enjoy on my 2 day business trip. Made a great change from the standard hotel chains.

Schönes Hotel mit Abstrichen

Wir haben das Hotel anlässlich eines Kurzurlaubes in der Eifel besucht. Die Internetseite des Hotels sieht vielversprechend aus. Wir hatten extra ein Himmelbettzimmer gebucht, um eine "richtige" Schlosserfahrung zu machen. Auf den ersten Blick ist das Hotel ganz ansprechend. Es liegt hoch über der Stadt (wegen komplizierter Verkehrsführung etwas schwer zu finden). Es hat ein Sternerestaurant welches wir aber nicht besucht haben. Zusätzlich gibt es noch einen Spa mit Pool, Sauna und dergleichen. Das Zimmer war entsprach leider nicht ganz den Vorstellungen, die man sich so zurecht legt. z.B. erträumten wir uns ein richtiges, nostaligisches Himmelbett mit. Gewesen ist es dann ein 70/80er Jahre Schick, vergoldetes Bett mit einem angedeuteten HImmel. In Zeiten von Ipod und dergleichen findet man hier auf dem Zimmer noch eine eingebaute Made-in-Germany-Stereo-Anlage mit Radio, bei dem der Sendersuchlauf noch durch Drehknopf zu tätigen ist. Insgesamt ist das Hotel etwas in die Jahre gekommen und die ein oder andere Auffrischung würde gut tun und damit Gesamtbild verbessern. So gab es schlußendlich nicht wirklich etwas ausetzen aber es war auch nicht der Überflieger. Die Inhaber sollten sich ein Herz fassen und in die Zukunft investieren.

For a truly excellent Eiffel escape

This is a really excellent, classy hotel that offers really good value for money. Great position over looking the town, historic aristocratic feel and yet well kept, comfortable and welcoming. Excellent level service from hotel staff with very good English. Really outstanding food from a young chef who really knows what he's doing and served in a way that makes it a fine dining experience (don't go to the restaurant expecting fish and chips tho - you'll be disappointed). I travel a lot and stay in many hotels around the world, but this trip was for me, because it was convenient for the Nurburgring, so this time it was my money and I was more than happy with what I paid for my stay. It was only one night, but I WILL be returning to this hotel, it's a keeper. I rarely fill these things in, but Schloßotel Kurfürstliches Amtshaus gets my vote, gets my recommendation and actually gets a review out of me!

Interesting and slightly unusual

Arrived late in the evening after a long drive, and didn't fancy a proper meal asked if room service was available. The answer was yes but only from the full restuarant menu: no light meals such as sandwiches etc offered! Slightly disappointing. Spa however great; good sauna/steam and good sized pool; however as commented by a previous reviewer, the naked swimming in the morning is quite strange- to be honest whilst there visiting the spa one evening well before the 10pm watershed there was an old couple in the pool without swimsuits anyway. Perhaps this is just the German way? If a regular hotel stayer on business travel like myself, I would not recommend this hotel: however if a tourist yes.

Et flot hotel med høj sans for service og kundeglæde. Personalet vil stå på hovedt for dig, et meget flot sted som både er tæt på action (nurburgring), afslapning (welness i hotellet) og flotte oplevelser (der er virkeligt flot i området samt masser af vandremuligheder)

Schloßotel Kurfürstliches Amtshaus -A true castle

We cannot say enough about our whole experience at Schlosshotel Kurfurstliches Amtshaus. Converted from a former castle, it is filled with charm. A true 4-star experience with excellent staff and service as well as comfortable rooms and gourmet food. The pool was especially nice built within the foundation rocks of the castle. Location within a lovely town was just to our liking and not far from Rhine and Mosel wine country. We loved our stay and have this place on our list for our next visit to Germany. This was our first two nights in Germany and our favorite.
