"A convenient place to stay 5 minutes from the castle and 5 minutes from the town centre. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast on the second day however fell a little short they ran out of lots of things such a fruit and sausages and there was nothing to replace them with which was poor. If breakfast is advertised as between 7 and 10 then everything should be available whatever time you take it."
"Overall the hotel needs a good clean and some maintenance in the pool area. The window sills in the main lobby/bar area have hundreds of dead fly's on them. Obviously not cleaned in a while. Some of the pool chairs are mouldy and the walls are all peeling. The changing room lockers are poor. The rooms were clean enough and the pool was nice and warm. The hotel has so much potential if a wee bit of money was spent on it. Location is great. Rooms are not quiet and you can hear people in other rooms talking. Can hear people walking in rooms above. Not the best night's sleep."
"This hotel is in a spectacular setting, and the grounds are extensive, as befits a grand building from the 19th century. Inside the decor is in keeping with the overall look and feel of the building, and it's easy to imagine the guests dressed up for meals and other activities. A few things to note - those needing handicap access or an easier means for porting their luggage in or out, have no accommodation at the front door, but rather have to find the (somewhat) hidden notice off to one side of the entrance, which brings you into the hotel beyond the reception desk. In terms of actual indoor property maintenance, there were several relatively minor issues in my room and the hallway outside - including badly squeaking hinges in the hallway that could have been lubricated, a towel rack that didn't heat (bad heating element), a room door that never latched when leaving the room (unless windows were opened), and a step up to the bathroom that should have been marked with tape or other type of contrasting color border. To offset those items, it should be noted that the hotel staff was incredibly responsive - addressing these issues as soon as reasonably possibly.
On the plus side, the grounds were magnificent and very well tended. Additionally, if you chose to walk into Pitlochry and found yourself too tired to make it back to the hotel on foot, you could call the front desk and they would send their van driver to pick you up. Overall, I'd give them an 8 out of 10."
"Original building has distinctive highland character and grandeur of days gone by. New wing incorporating bedrooms has been very well done and rooms comfortably appointed. Little touches such as biscuits for guests in their room and a safe to keep belongings perhaps although presume property is four start bed and breakfast rated and not hotel. Buffet breakfast lacking haggis and tatties scones.
Staff are friendly enough though could be more welcoming perhaps.
Location is central and ample guest parking. Pitlochry is well placed for exploring the Perthshire Highlands or venture further north all with stunning countryside."
"Warning. Car parking is not free and is payable at all times. This is because it is managed by a third-party.
Staff on arrival could have been polite and more helpful but reception staff were eventually welcoming.
The room was clean and welcoming however not all windows had curtains so difficult to sleep.
Breakfast - although it was individually plated and ordered, the food came as though it had been sucked for awhile."
"Very fun historical place to stay. Located on the Main Street so it was easy to walk everywhere.
The rooms are efficient and clean. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water.
Lovely visit!"
"High end boutique hotel with very comfortable beds and great amenities like the pantry with free snacks all day and a delicious cake served in the afternoon. We loved the decor all over the hotel!! Free parking and an easy walk to downtown Pitlochry. Only thing to keep in mind is the walk back up the hill to the hotel if you’re not in shape. Great breakfast in their beautiful restaurant and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in."
