"If you’re trying to show off or stay somewhere fancy, move along. If you’re looking for a budget friendly stay that won’t break the bank but will be clean and comfortable, you found it. It’s not fancy but the amenities (pool and hot tub) are nice and clean. Our room was tidy and the beds were soft. I’ve stayed in fancier places that were not as clean. Breakfast is basic but there’s something for everyone. The gal at the front desk was friendly but not fake. She checked me in quickly and gave a wave when we saw her. We didn’t need anything during our stay but I felt that if we did it would not have been an issue. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap, and lotion were provided and they were nice. Good stay."

"Facilities were as advertised and expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were put in a room facing the pool and asked if there was a room available across the hall facing the golf course. It was late when we checked in and unfortunately there were no rooms which were clean. However, the next morning, Cindy at the front desk had housekeeping clean a room for us right across the hall. Thank you for all your help, Cindy! The BIG negative of the room was the internet service, or lack of. Yes, you do have internet service. However, what is provided at no charge is so slow, it was basically useless. When trying to open emails, I thought I was back in the early days of AOL, using a modem. I eventually just gave up trying to read my emails and resorted to just using my phone to read any emails that required my attention. You could purchase faster internet for $8/day. However, I refused, out of principal, to pay an additional fee for "working" internet when internet service is advertised as being provided. Shanty Creek should be ashamed of themselves, and I will never stay at this unless this facility again unless the internet situation is resolved. I do not know what the internet situation is at the other Shanty Creek properties."

"The stay was wonderful. There are a lot of amenities to take advantage of. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars was because they only offered breakfast buffet when we were there and it wasn’t much better than what you get at the hotels that offer free breakfast…and it was $25/pp."

"Room was large and clean. It did, however, have a musty smell like other reviews mentioned. We stayed on the first floor and there was a couple of chairs and a table outside to sit and enjoy the lake. The shower is pretty small and the water (hot/cold) was a little difficult to regulate. I would definitely watch the hot water with small children as it gets super hot! We turned on the box fan in the room and I think that helped with the smell some, Nothing fancy just bare bones type of room. Lots of towels and wash cloths which is nice! The fife inn restaurant has amazing garlic cheese curds, it’s basically across the street! Ohhh and it’s just a thirty minute drive to the airport so convenient for that!"
