We stayed here for two nights during our Mount St Helens climb. Location wise, you can't beat Lone Fir Resort. In fact, it's really the only place to stay close to the trail head unless you consider camping or RVs. You can tell they're for sure understaffed. Only one person was working at the front desk (and no one when we left). The room was definitely not cleaned well. Near the fridge, there was a left over half cup of coffee and some dirty napkins. A used face mask was near the bed, and the previous occupants card key was left on the night stand. The waste basket in the bathroom was also not emptied and there was some leftover food in there. Luckily, it looked like the sheets were clean so I guess that's something. We were also hoping to get a nice meal the night before the hike, since we were waking up at 1am to head to the trail head. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed so we had to drive up the street a quarter mile or so to find a nice bar and grill. I'm usually not too picky on a place to stay before hiking, since most anything beats a car or tent, but I think at $300 for a two night stay, I would hope for a bit better. I'd come back again if I ever summit St Helens, but mainly because it's the only option.
