"I visited during the off season, when Hotel Melissa was one of the few places to stay in the area. There is very little to do or see in Torre Melissa, but the weather was lovely and warm, the beach is beautiful and completely empty. I had a lovely conversation with the local fishermen who were emptying their catch while repairing their nets on the beach in front of the hotel. "This is a very nice place to stay if you have kids. Lots of kids and activities. We do not have kids could have done without the thousands of screaming children. The air conditioning in the room was barely functional and it got very hot and humid at night. The location is like a demilitarized zone and is not even close to the location as shown on the site. "I can't explain the feeling we had staying in such a historic and well preserved castle. It was exquisite! It was like staying in a museum but much more comfortable. I really wish I could have taken the tour given by the owner. Next time, I will. There isn't a bar or restaurant at this time. I am not sure why they are shown as amenities. There was only one place in town that we found open on Sunday with limited hours for coffee and pizza. We had trouble finding dinner. The town is beautiful...

"When we got to the hotel they had no idea we were coming. We were lucky to catch them there as they were about to leave. The room was cold and took awhile to warm up.
