"The physical property is amazing but the hotel is understaffed. We had reservations for 2 suites (total cost > $800). We arrived at 5:15 pm on Saturday with 2 kids in tow and there was a 45 minute wait to check into our rooms. There were at least 40 people in line and only 3 desk agents. The hotel has a "VIP check-in line. But with only one desk agent, the 10 people in that line were not moving any faster. After finally reaching the front of the line we were told that (at 6:00 pm) our rooms were not ready. The desk clerk suggested that we could hang out and wat until we got a text message when our room was ready.. Then, she said we would have to get back in the "VIP line" to get a room key. After driving more than three hours from New Orleans we were unwilling to get back in line. After some pleading we were told that we could get a single smoking room (we're not smokers). The room was stinky but otherwise OK, but definitely not the quality of room I would expect at the price. I don't want to be totally negative. We had a nice view from the room of the hotel's cluster of gorgeous swimming pools and a lazy river. My only complaint about the pool is that they don't open it until noon so the kids could not swim in the morning before the 11:00 check-out. The Hotel has a huge event room and the show we saw that night was very good. Some very good restaurants, including Drago's on site should stay open later. Great hotel. It just needs more staff, better mgt.!"

"We have been coming to Golden Nugget for years for its convenient location and vast entertainment options, excellent dining choices and a super nice pool. This past weekend we needed a quick getaway option for our anniversary and we decided to go back to Golden Nugget. I have to give a shout out to Zoe at VIP concierge ....she made our stay extra special, she went above and beyond to make our very short stay that much more memorable. Customer service truly at its best. We will be sure to come back ."

"Breakfast was surprisingly good, waffles were available, I had the scrambled eggs and they weren't the regular powdered eggs either, they were mixed with a small amount of chopped onions and green peppers,, but they didn't overpower the eggs themselves, some of the best breakfast buffet eggs I've had even at higher end hotels, fresh fruit too,,"

"The hotel was very clean with a large room. Breakfast was well varied and hot...very good. The only drawback was in the bathroom there was just a shower, no tub, and for someone with bad knees it was hard to stand for long. We will come back the next time we are that way, the price was good and the hotel was quiet."

"The room was very clean and homely. The dove products were amazing for showering and washing hair. The kitchen appliances were the best part because we didn’t have to spend so much money on eating out,we cooked and warmed our leftovers. It was raining so we didn’t utilize the pool,but overall the stay was a 10/10. That’s the only hotel my husband and I stay in when we visit Lake Charles!"
