  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The rooms were clean the property was clean and the service was friendly. The hotel was close to a lot of places to eat shop I was there with my fiance for a weekend getaway and we were able to relax and enjoy our time. I will definitely go back there again

Easy to get to no frills, you get what you paid for? close to dinning. Easy for a Lyft or Uber driver to find. Ok for an overnight stay with minimal room time. Just a place to shower and sleep on a trip to cbus for an event at OSU!

We are always a "late" check-in when we travel, and at a lot of places this seems to be a "problem". Here it was not. The night clerk was very pleasant and helpful. This location my not be a 4 star property but it gives you a clean, safe, and comfortable room. At a very reasonable price. It's located right off the freeway near most every food restaurant. This is the third time we have stayed here on our trips to Ohio and have not been disappointed once.

My stay was good. No issues. I will return again. What I liked: bed was comfortable with good pillows and sheets, good towels and a very hot shower. The room was clean. The property is in need of an upgrade but met my needs for a 1 night stay.

For a motor lodge it was a great experience. Rooms were spacious and cleaned every day. Tub needs an upgrade but it wasn’t terrible. I would stay there again with my family.

The hotel was close to the stores and dining and easy access to the freeway. They need to do some upgrades to the furniture and room accommodations.

The check-in desk person was very hospital. The room was decent, a little out dated but can't really complain for the price paid for a week.

It wasn't terrible but room was very dated. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Bathroom sink was very low to the floor. Perfect size for a child, but not an adult. Staff couldn't find my reservation. Finally after 15 minutes the front desk person found it. Overall I would rate it a3 out of 5
