"Nice hotel and location just of A12 so easy for onward travel. Nice rooms clean and comfortable and a reasonable selection of evening food. The Breakfast is good too. I’ll certainly be staying there again next time around and would definitely recommend."
"The hotel is bang in the middle of town and the staff are friendly, the shower is good but could use more pressure and the bed is comfy. The breakfast was the best breakfast i have had at a hotel. The Air con system has no effect on the temperature of the room and the window in our room was broken. The hotel is also over the road from a night club and is very noisy till 2am and then at 6am the bin men start up at outside. this is not the hotels fault but if you want a good night's sleep you won't find it here. "Breakfast was good, though staff weren't clearing tables so a big queue soon built up. Problems with the coffee machine slso meant we had to go without.
Room was clean and spacious.
A lot of areas in the spa were out of order so it was basically a pool & sauna.
Service in restaurant was poor and extremely slow. Food was generally good but not as described on the menu eg banoffee icecream was actually vanilla, and cherry cheesecake was actually strawberries & raspberries, neither of which was mentioned on ordering. But the worst was that one of our party had a large piece of greaseproof paper in their chicken pie. This meal was deducted from the bill but wasnt removed from the table and no substitute offered. "
"Wivenhoe House Hotel was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. Set in beautiful parkland, the hotel perfectly blends historic charm with modern luxury, creating an atmosphere that feels both elegant and welcoming.
From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every member of staff went out of their way to make me feel looked after, without ever being intrusive.
Dinner in the restaurant was a real highlight. The menu was beautifully curated, showcasing seasonal ingredients and creative flair. Each course was expertly presented and full of flavour—clearly the work of a talented kitchen. The ambience in the dining room added to the experience, striking just the right balance between relaxed and refined.
Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. There was a generous selection to choose from, with both continental options and perfectly cooked hot dishes. Everything was fresh, high quality, and served with the same attentive care we experienced the night before.
The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with lovely views of the surrounding grounds—making it very easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting.

"Booking in was made difficult by the staff members poor communication skills. We contacted the hotel a few weeks prior to our stay date to inform them we would be checking in around 7pm. On arrival the room was extremely hot, the radiators were off so we opened the curtains and windows fully and turned on to max the supplied fan (no Aircon), whilst we went out to eat locally in Ipswich. On our return to the room a few hrs later the temperature was unbearably hot, despite the aforementioned steps we had taken to try and cool the room down. We went to bed and attempted to sleep, and so began the worst night sleep either of us have ever experienced, the heat did not subside...the only saving grace was that we were in the room and hour less than we would have been normally due to the clocks going forward for spring daylight saving. Breakfast was acceptable but again made awkward due to a different staff members odd communication. Communication on checkout was minimal which tbh suited both of us at this point, we were not asked how our stay had been. We will not be staying here again."
