We’ve just spent a week at Hôtel Au Relais Saint Maurice, and it was a real highlight of our holiday. The hotel is a beautiful old house, full of character and history stretching back hundreds of years. Maurice, the owner, is absolutely dedicated to the place and to his guests – nothing is too much trouble, and his care shows in every detail. Chinon is a wonderful place and the Diderot matches it’s surroundings. We go every year and love it.

Amazing to stay in a world heritage site! Especially access to the Abbey out of hours was truly memorable. My 5 year old daughter loved it

Very clean comfortable hotel...out side sitting area on first floor with loungers. Hotel is right in the main square with many restaurants to choose from. Breakfast is self service and has many choices.

Excellent location and great staff

A great stop off hotel to break up a 800km journey but would also be great for a 2 night stay to explore the area. Lovely pool and very good restaurant. Breakfast great value for money too. Highly recommended

We had an absoloutely wonderful two night stay with our toddler at Cave Auger. The upstairs family apartment was perfect for us , and we were particularly grateful for the excellent air con during one of the heatwaves earlier this year. The pool was great - warm and immaculately clean. Stéphane was the most welcoming host - and we particularly enjoyed the dinner on the terrace that was all local produce, and it came with our own little barrel of delicious wine. Hotel is well situated in Chinon. You can walk anywhere from there. Plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops Parking is on the town main square just opposite the hotel.

Great find for overnight stay travelling through the region . Beautiful location & useful if travelling with dog owing to adjacent forest. Superior room plenty of space with modern decor Breakfast buffet extensive a little hectic.

Absolutely spectacular. We really enjoyed our time at Chateau de Candes. Bertrand and Sam went out of their way to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Running this place is not easy but the family are doing their absolute best as custodians. They are fully dedicated and committed to making Chateau de Candes a success. Merci Bertrand et Sam. We will definitely be back.
