This hotel is an affordable gorgeous oasis of historical re-creation of early life in Chico, CA. It’s within walking distance of shops, restaurants, Bidwell Park, and the beautiful campus of Chico State. I was in room 209 which allowed me to see my vehicle in the parking structure through my window. The room was warm because the AC struggled to keep the air cool, but I put the AC on 62 degrees with a high fan speed and it kept things comfortable most of the time.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was kind. The breakfast was delicious. The problem was noise. Room 214 was so impacted by music playing nearby, that the bed vibrated with bass sounds. Earplugs did nothing to suppress the sound. The music did not stop until after 1:30 am. It was not a room that could be used for sleep. When I stepped out of the room I could still hear the noise down the entire hallway of the second floor. The staff felt the music was coming from a nearby establishment. I would not recommend the second floor or a weekend night if you want to sleep.
