"We stayed 4 nights and highly recommend Hotel Varusha. Everyone we met from checking in to our departure was friendly and helpful, even using a translation device to chat about the fascinating history of Veliko Tarnovo. The location is in the Old Town and in a good location for sightseeing, cafés and restaurants. Our room had a lovely view over the atmospheric orange -tiled rooftops to green hills beyond. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. We didn't use the kitchenette...

"I would never stay at that hotel. The room smelled like sewage. We brought it up to staff and they said that all of the rooms smelled like that.... at one point we were the only ones at the hotel, and now I understand the reason. The staff were very nice, but sleeping with the smell of sewage was a very unpleasant experience. Do not stay at this place."
