"This is a very nice place to stay. Good value, very clean, staff is friendly and helpful. Good water pressure in shower. The beds are comfortable (although they sit quite high which might be an issue for some people with mobility issues). The rooms have heavy-ish doors that really help keep the rooms quiet, which I very much appreciate. Any noise from the lobby did not penetrate to the rooms. Breakfast options are ok probably for most, although as a vegan who is not fond of white bread or dry cereal, I was basically limited to juice and an apple or banana, fairly typical. Overall a pleasant experience and probably the best value in the area."
"My daughter and recently stayed at the Avid Hotel in Hays, Kansas, and we had an excellent experience from beginning to end.
When we arrived, the lobby was spotless and gave us a great first impression. We were warmly welcomed by a young man named Cruz, who greeted us with a smile and a wonderful sense of humor that immediately made us feel at home.
I was traveling to Hays for a medical procedure, so I had a few special requests. I had reserved a second room because we were expecting another family member to join us, and it was important that both rooms be located close together. I also requested rooms on the top floor and asked for daily housekeeping service. Cruz went above and beyond to accommodate every request without hesitation. His kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly stood out. Throughout our stay, whenever he saw us in the lobby, he made a point to check in and ask how everything was going and if there was anything we needed. That level of genuine customer service is becoming rare and was greatly appreciated.
Our housekeeper, who cared for Room 403 from July 16–18, also deserves recognition. She did an outstanding job every single day. The room smelled fresh and clean each time we returned, and everything was immaculate. It's clear she takes great pride in her work, and it made our stay even more comfortable during a stressful time. From the exceptional customer service and accommodations, every part of our stay exceeded our expectations!"
"Very nice staff. We only stayed one night. Room was clean and the fridge and microwave were very convenient. Breakfast was nice too, with some good options."
"When you walk into this place, you're not quite sure what to expect, let alone the pride in which they have taken to provide a wholly unique experience compared to what you might think from the outside.. The hotel only has a few rooms, each has been uniquely decorated with a mishmash of antiques, modern retro equipment, but also custom furnishings - hammered copper counter for the washbasin sink.. Feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. The main hallways are lined with displays of Kansas historical items. The F-14 (yes, this hotel seems to have a 'personal' F-14 display across the street) and Top Gun stuff is just a bonus as is the bar/grill area. Definitely a mom and pop operation that those traveling I-70 should support and shun the corporate chains... Heck, if you want you can stay in a Conestoga wagon (air conditioned) if you want!!"
"The house was in a good location. Only street parking is available, but it was convenient and there was always space. The house is definitely “antique”, but everything worked; water flowed, toilet flushed, lights came on, etc. Wood floors squeeked throughout the house. Hosts are available via text only and were not always responsive. Even though breakfast is included, it was nothing to write home about. You are probably better off going somewhere else for food. All in all, not a bad stay, but not a destination either."
