"This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. Would definitely come back if in the area."

"Beautiful old hotel. Very dog friendly. Views are amazing. Bedroom was very large and clean but needs bit of refurbishing. Found bedroom doors were a bit noisy when closing. As the weather was excellent we enjoyed sitting in our balcony relaxing and enjoying the view. Good walks. Great pool and hot tub. Had our breakfast in the conservatory as we could take our dog in with us. Breakfast was a good buffet selection. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Fully enjoyed our stay and will return."

"Good clean stylish property. Mixed old character property, tailored for modern use. Elevator takes you to 1st floor only but if you do require mobility use rooms, the staff were more than accommodating to ensure needs were met. The rooms were extremely comfortable, good space and decorated modern with character still intact, it did not feel claustrophobic however it did not have a mini fridge or a safe (that we could find). The property was warm, which was expected in mid-summer, although the room did not have A/C (again expected as we were in Scotland which has a cooler climate), there was fans provided for us which was more than adequate. The staff were a credit to the hotel, they were friendly, approachable and there wasn’t an issue too much for them. Overall, very impressed with the hotel and more so the views and grounds the hotel offers. The price was more than reasonable for the room we booked and the restaurant food was beautifully cooked and present, at a very reasonable price again. Thank you to the staff at Hetland Hall"

"The location is absolutely fabulous, you’re as close to the beach as you could get. The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to just sit and relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The breakfast offers three choices on top of the serve yourself items like cereal, fruit and croissants. I tried all three options, the traditional Scottish was my favorite, The hotel is dog friendly, and I enjoyed seeing the furry travel companions. There’s a Fish and Chips Take Away place just a 2 minutes walk away , and the hotel itself has a restaurant also"

"A great location for this hotel with lovely views from the rooms. The food is excellent, both the dinners and the cooked breakfasts, and staff are friendly and helpful. Just a few tweaks would make things even better: 1. The music in the restaurant and, especially the bar, is too loud and intrusive 2. The pastries at breakfast were stale 3. In both our rooms a handyman was needed as the grab rails in both bathrooms were coming away from the wall and there were parts missing from the shower controls 4. The spa massage treatment was great but changing room facilities weren't so good with inadequate locker space and little room to change. Apart from those minor reservations we would be very happy to return!"
