Situated in the department of Morbihan, a region with over 550 megalithic sites, Carnac can certainly hold its own, as it's home to the world-famous Carnac megalithic site. Here you'll find menhirs, tumuli, dolmens and other standing stones incredibly aligned over two and a half miles and still full of mystery today. You'll certainly wonder why these stones are standing upright and in alignment. Come to the site, which is in the process of being awarded UNESCO world heritage status, and come up with your own theory! As Brittany's sunniest town, Carnac is also well known for its pine forest-lined fine sandy beaches between the Gulf of Morbihan and Quiberon Bay come and enjoy a dip or the many water sports on offer, such as surfing, sailing, land sailing, jet-skiing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding or kayaking.
