  • Let me preface these discoveries by saying that I ended up in Calella haphazardly. It is not necessarily a town that I would generally recommend. It is not your traditional Spanish/Catalan dream destination. It very much looks like something the 70's spit out and no one ever bothered to clean up. With that said, I freaking love this little freakish town, which I quickly & affectionately nicknamed "The Twilight Zone." The strangest occurrences happened throughout the month, yes MONTH, I lived in Calella. Apparently since the 70's, Calella, was a booming tourist destination for Western Europeans and the British. It has been on a massive decline over the past decade. What's left behind though are some fun Dutch and English/Irish pubs, a small welcoming expat community, and one of the most incredible beaches you will ever lay your eyes on. Beautiful clean white sand for miles and crystal clear turquoise water. Parties & bars on the beach, some free concerts in the summer time and of course drinking it allowed as well. If you happen to find yourself here, you must stop in at Beach Boys Club, tell the owners, Brian & Cathy, that Amber sent you. Then hit up Brian for his secret stash of American imported Budweiser (Did you know the bottled stuff is always produced in country? Brian believes the secrets in the water, so he gets the cans from the US. Brian is British, which makes this little story even better.) Also, be prepared to eat a lot of rotisserie chicken.

Owner was absolutely fantastic made us feel welcome from the first day, rooms we’re clean and very modern. Breakfast was also nice freshly cooked egg and bacon everyday a wide variety of cereal and also fresh breads.

Lovely B&B. The service was unmatchable! Kind, friendly owners with excellent English. Very helpful and genuinely interested in their guests' welfare. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was delicious. We couldn't recommend this B&B more!

Great location, friendly staff.

We had a really good stay at El Pekinaire. Great location just a few minutes walk from the beach or restaurants. The room was very clean and modern, with everything we needed. Breakfast was very good and staff friendly and helpful. We used the parking option which was good value compared to the on street parking and kept our hire car safe inside.

The hotel was excellent given the price. The only bad thing about the trip were the hordes of disrespectful tourists who have taken over this part of the Catalan coast, but none of them were staying at this place, which was quiet and clean.

Absolutely brilliant!

There is no way this is a 2 star hotel. The whole property was spotlessly clean, the host was perfect and the whole experience was brilliant. The breakfast was good, the room was good (including a mini bar and rain shower). I found the position of the television slightly strange being high up in the corner of the room, but you don't need television when visiting such a beautiful place. The location is ideal - close to supermarkets, bars, restaurants and the beach. I will return here regularly, thank you so much for making me feel comfortable on my first solo trip.

Andreas and his wife were just brilliant! From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, they made us feel at home. This place has all the facilities you could expect from a Hotel, with the addition of a personal touch. Great breakfast, immaculately well serviced rooms and stones throw away from everything Calella has to offer. Couldn't have asked for more!

I stayed here to participate in IRONMAN BARCELONA. I left my bicycle in the garage. The room is well-cleaned and very beautiful. Breakfast is also delicious. They gave me recommendations for dinner and directions to the airport, making our stay very comfortable.

Pretty good

2 star hotel so it is what you would ecpect as far as things like coffee machine or other amenities. The wifi was fast, I was able to attend class and multi task remote work. No hand towels. The free breakfast was a nice touch, and good service. Being from the US I felt they deserved a tip.

A Convenient Stay with Minor Inconveniences I recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a pleasant experience, especially considering the very affordable price. The hotel is located right in the city center, just a few minutes from the beach, which is a great advantage for those who want to enjoy the sun and sea without long trips. The room was fine, clean, and had all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. While it wasn’t luxurious, everything was okay, especially for the price paid. The only downside is that the hotel is situated on a busy street, and the noise from outside could still be heard even with the balcony door closed, which might be disturbing for those sensitive to noise. However, if the noise doesn’t bother you too much, this hotel is a good option for an affordable vacation. Another important thing to note is that check-in is at 3:00 PM, so if you arrive earlier, I recommend going to the beach or exploring the surroundings until your room is ready. Overall, I recommend this hotel to those looking for simple accommodation, well-located, and at a low price.

B&B EI Pekinaire is amazing! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. By the end of my stay Andres knew exactly what I wanted to drink for breakfast. The details went a long way. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. I can’t recommend staying at this hotel enough! 5 out of 5 stars for sure!
