"Good size room staff lovely. Unfortunately the room was freezing cold and the duvet was paper thin. Card for the room didn’t work and we had to keep going back down 2 flights of stairs to get the card reprogrammed. "

"Spa access not clearly disclosed and disappointing stay We chose Barton Hall Hotel & Spa largely because of its high Expedia rating and the expectation of enjoying the spa during our stay. However, on arrival we were told that spa access for hotel guests is not guaranteed, as day spa and twilight bookings can take priority. This came as a surprise because the spa is presented as a complimentary amenity at the time of booking on the Expedia listing, with no indication that access may depend on capacity. The first time this was explained was at check-in after payment had already been taken, by which point we had travelled over 40 miles to the hotel with no practical opportunity to reconsider the booking or cancel without charge. While the hotel eventually found a spa slot for us, the interaction at reception felt uncomfortable and detracted from what was meant to be a relaxing visit. Room 18 also appeared to require maintenance, with marks on the walls, worn fixtures and deteriorating window frames. In general, parts of the building appeared tired, with uneven floors and visible cracking and bowing to the lounge ceiling that raised some concern. There were also safety issues: the bathroom towel rail became extremely hot and both my girlfriend and I burned ourselves on it, and I stumbled on a raised threshold entering the spa. Despite raising these issues afterwards, no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience was offered, which was disappointing."

"The room was not booked with a dog even that was requested at Hotels.com. The friendly recpetionist organised a room for me and my dog, but it was £20 more expensive, There was a dog charhe of 35£ instead of 25£ as on the website. I did get a room looking at a wall and it was so intensly smelling fo fresh paint that I had a headache and couldn't sleep esp a flickering fire alarm just above the bed wasn't helpful either. And all this "joy" for £189, no dogbed or towels (as described on the website), the food was average, the breakfast eggs and tomatos were cold and dry. Really not impressed. The restaurant might have seen better days. The views were mazing, but not from my room...."

"Great quiet Location with friendly staff. This was our 4th visit. I like the White Company toiletries, the bath robe and slippers and the old fashioned teapot and cosy for your morning tea with fresh milk. Recommend thoroughly and we’ll be back later in the year. "

"I was staying at your UK Peterborough hotel. I'm sorry but I've paid a lot of money to have work carried outside my door when I was working. I know maintenance has to happen but when I asked if they could come another time I was rudely greatest. Everything else was fine and stay was ok after that bit for the whole afternoon yesterday it was appalling."
