Broadwey Ford Although not the longest ford in Britain it must be a contender for longest in Dorset. About 100m long this ford which joins Watery lane with a minor track further south runs along the bed of the river Wey. The access ramp on the north side has a big drop of nearly two feet so once your vehicle is in there there's no coming back!

Weymouth Relief Rd (14) This view north is along the line of the new road. Taken from just north of Coombe Farm Barns the Knoll is on the right , the Dorchester Weymouth railway is on the left and the Ridgeway is straight ahead in the distance.

River Wey and Sheep Beneath Willow The River Wey runs for only five miles or so from its source in Upwey, emptying into Weymouth Bay just beyond the town's harbour. This is the Broadwey section where the river can still be mistaken for a stream.

Weymouth Relief Road (8) View from the eastern edge of the line of the new road looking south down the hill towards West Farm , Lower Bincombe. The southern facing slope of the ridgeway is very steep here and the gradient of the road will be levelled out by a cutting and an embankment. This is the point where the cutting (behind the point of view) will become an embankment. Already excavated material has started to be put in place for the embankment. The width of the embankment will require the demolition of the house at West farm on the right of the image. The Bincombe road will be accessed by slip roads with restricted access. Northbound traffic on the new road will have no access to Bincombe and local Bincombe traffic will have no access to the southbound new road. There will be a bridge for the Bincombe road will pass under the embankment
