The hotel was right across the street from the lake. Delicious breakfast and great location in a beautiful, quiet town. Would definitely recommend this hotel and if in the area I would stay here again!
So glad we decided to visit Brienz. This is a fabulous hotel with their terrific restaurant across the street with an outstanding view from the Terrace.
Location wise, this could not be better. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was nice. The restaurant in the evening has a good selection of Swiss traditional dishes - otherwise you can cross the road and go to Loewen (which belongs to the hotel as well). Note that for late night check-in you need to call them so they can leave your room key in a safe box at the main entrance (dead easy).
Check in was great (Sophia is very sweet), property is nice and food at the restaurant was really good. It is at the end of town so a lot of walking to get to the hotel and back to the main part of town. Also next to a church so if you don’t mind hearing the bell every 15 minutes (or you don’t like sleeping) it’s a good spot.
friendly staff and fair breakfast, But there is several location of this hotel our room was across the street and the room was old, i felt like the bed was a prison cot. small and thin and uncomfortable, the shower and bathroom was fine.
It’s about a 13 minute walk to the train station so it’s in a convenient location.
We had a room facing the lake so the view was beautiful. It’s got a very rustic, cozy feel.
This hotel is a little gem. I booked randomly and the staff was super friendly! I actually became buddies with one of the waiters.
The view on the lake is magnificent. I wish I could stay longer!
The view is beautiful and the staff was super nice and friendly. Breakfast offers a decent variety of food. The only downside is that the walls are rather thin so if you have noisy neighbors like we did, it makes for a rather unpleasant experience.
I enjoyed my time here. Great location for exploring the Alps, breakfast was delicious (pastries in particular), and the majority of the staff was nice to me as an English speaker. Despite concrete walls, there were some noisy neighbors on a couple nights (as late as 1:30am on a Sunday) but that’s hotel life. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I recommend.
What a beautiful place in a beautiful town. We arrived during the hottest days and the office staff was so gracious they let us borrow their office fan. There was a big storm that came through that disrupted the whole town but their service didn't waver. Thank you so much for everything! We had a spectacular time!
The front staff were exceptionally helpful, kind and professional . We had a ‘glitch’ with a third party booking agent, and the front desk individuals patiently and proficiently worked to make proper corrections. Thank you! Also- we absolutely loved the setting, the fine waiter ( from Turkey, originally) and the many outdoor activities available on our vacation!
It was difficult for us to find the accurate location, one company owned 3 places, the restaurant near the lake view, very bad old waiter,we are tourists and we did not know what kind food we would order as we asked what we wanted to eat,but they did not have, the old waiter had no patience and was pissed off.we recommend the tourists don’t go there any more if you can bear this bad service.
My wife and I like to stay in small towns. We do not like fancy hotels and big cities. We like to have a place we can anchor from and then enjoy the journey. Hotel Brienz was perfect. First the area is amazing. The staff is great. Family owned and operated. You are 1 hour from Luzern, and Bern. 40 minutes to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. 20 from Interlaken. 2 3/4 hour train ride to Zermatt. Hotel offers a very nice and complete breakfast. Rooms are very clean. The bed was a little hard but the staff went out of their way to bring me other items such a pillows, blankets to make it more comfortable. They genuinely cared. It is not a new property, but it is very well kept. Keeps the charm of the area. Wry quiet and the views are stunning. Great hotel. Great staff, great access to the wonders of Switzerland.
