"We had a really nice time. We are a family of 5 with tweens. We stayed at the mansion.
Pros:
- the beach and the beach staff were lovely. the beach is just so cool. very clean. kids had fun with other kids, going out on the flats, playing with the hermit crabs, and wading in the water. as a parent i appreciated not fearing they were going to drown or get pulled by the waves (it was very calm).
- the front lawn. kids enjoyed this during the evenings. it was a nice wat to unwind and let the kids run and play games.
- the golf. my kids and husband enjoyed playing 18 and 9 holes. We also went over one evening and just used the range for an hour or so. very friendly staff and a very nice course.
The cons
- It did not have a high end feel to it. we were checked in and that was it. not a big deal, but it was touted as high end. I wouldn't have had that expectation otherwise.
- the room air conditioning - the room itself was spacious and felt clean. the air conditioning was like a monster. it was one that came on and then turned off until the room got hot and then kicked back on. it literally woke us up every night multiple times because it was so loud - like an autobody shop or monster screeching.
- inflated prices. I expect this because we're at a nice resort and a lot goes into that. but the prices were very elevated. $26 pizza on the lawn and a glass of wine and water was $30. if you're used to city/resort pricing this won't surprise you.
Overall - It was a solid 'B' stay"
"We had a lovely stay at The Old Manse Inn. It was a quintessential bed and breakfast. The innkeepers were darling and made us feel very welcome. All of the staff were kind and attentive. Highly recommend!"
"This hotel is cozy and chic. Staying here set the bar so high for hotels on the Cape. The staff was incredibly attentive, the food was delicious, and the vibes were on point.
We got stuck on the property for an afternoon due to heavy rainstorm and were so happy to cozy up and mellow out. There were sweet treats everyday, sodas, and ice cream for afternoon and dessert. Plus we were down the road from Cobies, which is essential for us when we're staying in Brewster!"
"Expect irregularities on the rooms. Know what to ask and don't take anything for granted. Don't even assume you have a bathroom in your room... And don't assume the room is not tiny . Or that the AC is not located near your head, humming and blowing wind straight on your face when you go to sleep (see picture). The building was not built to be hotel and was renovated. As a result, some rooms don't have bathroom and shower in them, and you have to share it with the other rooms around. This is definitely not a feature you can expect from hotels with such a price mark.
We received a tiny room, very simple to open a suitcase. The room had an improvised AC located just next to the bed head. Imagine trying to sleep with the wind blowing directly into your head from a distance of 3 inches...
We complained and the room was changed but the first night was horrible. The new room was perfect though!"
"Sea Meadow Inn was a delightful stay in a historic property which was beautifully maintained. The owner was very hospitable. The breakfast was delicious. I was staying as part of a work trip but would love to return for a leisurely stay."
