"The Sandman is a nice hotel with comfortable rooms. My only complaint is that the rooms on the side of the hotel facing the trains (I think on 8th Ave) can be quite noisy as the trains are loud and continue late into the night. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend avoiding rooms on that side. The heating unit also added to the noise.
Everything else was great. The bed was comfortable, breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, and the gym was well equipped."
"We had booked a Standard King room. When we arrived they put us in a King Handicap room. Was not very nice. Called front desk to be moved, only Queen Standards available for and "up charge". Not happy about an "up charge" but moved to queen standard room. After a couple calls with front desk, the supervisor dismissed the "up charge" on the room. The Casino was okay, but, too smoky, so couldn't spend too much time in there. The Little Chief restaurant was very good and staff very friendly.

"Good breakfast, good parking, amenities could be nicer just by staying on top of the little things that make a big difference to guests. Tennis table paddles and ball was broken and couldnt be used and also thr chairs are missing cushions so you cant really sit on them."
"Fab hotel for a fab price. Fits the bill for a purpose-built weekend. We were there for a dance comp, so the amenities (pool, restaurant, parking, location) were perfect. It's a little dated, but that's okay! And they do a fabulous job to quiet it down right at 9 p.m. Felt like (in the best way!) a kids club with so many teams and groups there too, but was nice and quiet for a good sleep when it mattered. Staff are fab too!"

"Hotel was under renovation, and the pool was closed. We were only notified on the day of checking in through message through Expedia which I did not see until later.
None of the rooms in the hotel have bathroom doors that lock (or so I was told by the reception staff member), and the bathroom doors are a sliding barn door style which have gaps you can see into when the door is closed. There is no privacy, everything done in the bathroom can be heard, and to top it off the bathroom didn't have a fan (just a semi-passive wall vent). After a shower the whole room was steamy because the moisture couldn't clear fast enough.
The A/C unit is on top of an unfinished wood box with a strip of carpet wrapped around the front of it. The exterior wall had the vapour barrier sticking our from the bottom of the wall.
The only reason I am giving two stars rather than one is due to the staff being very nice, and the beds were comfortable. Overall, this has been my most disappointing hotel stay.
Lastly, if I were to ask for a refund/discount/credit for the stay, Expedia will say that it's up to the Hampton Inn, and the Hampton Inn will say that since I book through Expedia they can't offer anything. Both sides get to pass off any accountability."
"Breakfast was basic but always stocked.
Hotel is clean and quiet.
Hotel is very very run down……chairs peeling, stains on walls and floors, fridge didn’t work, dresser was beat up. Old beds(yellowing mattresses, pillows, curtains, bedding)"
