Negatives Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three. "Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

"The hotel is easy to find, and ideally located for visiting Beamish Museum. It is very attractive, and the bar and restaurant areas have great views westwards over the valley. Each ground floor room has its own car parking slot - wonderful! The staff are friendly and helpful, and a small bonus for me, the malt whisky is cheaper than the pub down the road .... I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area, there was nothing I did not like."

"This is a lovely hotel with great accommodation and facilities. I had booked a deluxe room and from the Expedia room information this room had AC. Unfortunately, when we got to our room it was very hot ( 31 degrees outside) and it didn't have AC. I went down to the reception desk with my proof of AC showing on that website. Apparently, this is an error!! They do have rooms with AC, but it was £10 extra ( Premium room). After a bit of discussion and the member of staff phoning a manager, we were upgraded for no extra charge ( just a pity it took a phone call). Expedia need to fix this error on their website. Overall, a lovely hotel to stay in."
