"This hotel room was one of the worst I have stayed in during many years of travel.
The bathtub was visibly rusty around the drain, and the back of the tub was cracked. A glued-down anti-slip mat appeared to be covering additional deterioration. While standing in the shower, I could feel that the tub floor was compromised and unstable beneath my feet.
I brought these concerns to the front desk. The first clerk I spoke with was unable to understand my explanation. Another employee came from the back office, understood the issue immediately, and escorted me to the manager.
I explained to the manager that the hotel appeared very nice overall, but I was concerned about the condition of the bathtub. I showed her photos I had taken of the maintenance issues. Rather than addressing the concerns, she responded sarcastically, saying, "We don't take photos of our drains!"
What made this experience even more disappointing was that I stayed at two hotels from another chain immediately afterward, and both properties were excellent. The contrast in room condition, maintenance standards, and customer service could not have been more noticeable.
Based on my experience, the condition of this room and the dismissive response from management fell far below the standards I expect when traveling."
